*Use code Johnson30 for 30% off a Prep Redzone annual subscription*

We turn our focus of this series to our largest Class rankings. The Class of 2027. With nearly 600 ranked athletes we are able to get such a strong look into where the strength and depth of this Class truly lies. As we have done with the younger classes, we are going to look at total number ranked by position and total within our Top 100. That will give us the best breakdown of which 5 position groups have the best combination of top end talent and depth to feed the lower levels of competition. There are going to be some expected, traditional positions groups in this Top 5, but also some surprises. So let's dive right into the numbers and the athletes who have led to our finds.

#1 Offensive Line

We start off exactly where you would expect we would, on the offensive line. The rankings feature one of the best OL classes that we have seen in a very long time. This position alone features several FCS, FBS, and Power 4 scholarship offered athletes. The group features 84 ranked athletes overall and 36 of them are inside our Top 100 overall. Over 1/3 of the Top 100 coming from one position group is insane and it goes to show the depth of top tier talent in the offensive trenches.

Leading the way of this elite position group are Power 4 recruits like national recruits [player_tooltip player_id='1335688' first='Cole' last='Reiter'] of Germantown and [player_tooltip player_id='1335695' first='Hunter' last='Mallinger'] of Hamilton Sussex. The group also features Wisconsin Badger commit [player_tooltip player_id='1515864' first='Ethan' last='McIntosh'] of Verona. Joining them at the top are more FBS/FCS recruits like [player_tooltip player_id='1335691' first='Reece' last='Mallinger'] of Hamilton Sussex, the best OC in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='1228379' first='Carter' last='Gordon'] out of Germantown, [player_tooltip player_id='1226880' first='David' last='Provost'] of West De Pere, and [player_tooltip player_id='1126395' first='Orville' last='Blohm'] of Winnebago Lutheran who has been one of the hottest recruits in the state with the offers we have seen him rolling in recently.

The list is far from done after that group. The next group are kids that have offers, but could see an even larger leap in recruitment during this summer when camps begin. That includes guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1620170' first='Sam' last='Cheever'] of Arrowhead who has a rare build and is ready to show the physical tools loaded into that frame, [player_tooltip player_id='1620317' first='Brady' last='Moranski'] of Germantown who is continuing to grow and fill out that extremely athletic frame, and [player_tooltip player_id='1733714' first='Jamail' last='Sewell'] of Wisconsin Lutheran who broke onto the scene last season but is ready for that next leap as we get more looks at him in competitive battles.

The position group also features so many athletes who are ready to try and put themselves into the top tier of elite talent. That includes student athletes like [player_tooltip player_id='1620399' first='Evan' last='Leibfried'] of Mount Horeb who has steadily improved and is looking to show that he is ready to be among those D1 level athletes. [player_tooltip player_id='1226881' first='Trenton' last='Harris'] of Racine Case has been a staple at the top of this group since he was a freshman and is starting to see things pay off with a couple of recent D1 offers. [player_tooltip player_id='1733782' first='Truman' last='Wetzel'] of Nicolet is booming with potential in his 6'7" 240 lbs frame.

It is crazy to think that this is just athletes within the Top 100 too. We also have unbelievable depth with guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1733753' first='Luke' last='Grube'] of West Salem who holds multiple D2 offers. [player_tooltip player_id='1620336' first='Felix' last='Werblow'] is a kid who will skyrocket this summer if he can compete and dominate like his junior tape suggests. [player_tooltip player_id='2103501' first='Connor' last='Carr'] is another IOL to keep an eye on with his power in the run game. There are so many athletes to dive into just on the OL. It leaves no doubt that this is the best position group in the Class of 2027.

#2 Wide Receivers

Coming in at #2 is a position group that might be more of a surprise when you think of recruiting the state of Wisconsin. The 2027 WR group holds its own very well when you start lining it up against the rest. Besides OL it is the only position group with double digit athletes in the Top 100. It features 11 athletes, plus we have two more just outside the Top 100 at #101, #104, and #108. The position is also tied for the 2nd most ranked overall with 68 athletes. There is a lot to like here.

Starting at the top we have a monstrous mismatch in 6'6" 205 lbs [player_tooltip player_id='2098610' first='Jude' last='Siikarla'] of Slinger. The junior is a smooth athlete with a huge catch radius and the ball skills to swing things even more in his favor downfield. right behind him is the explosive and agile [player_tooltip player_id='1223052' first='Bryce' last='Austin'] of Racine Lutheran. Also dominating with his elite athleticism is [player_tooltip player_id='1620322' first='Eli' last='Kittleson'] who offers winning traits and high level tape in all three phases of the game. Another bigger mismatch is Union Grove's [player_tooltip player_id='1758530' first='Justin' last='Williamson'] who can stretch the field with his long strides and impresses with his level of body control and fluidity.

The depth with the Top 100 also pushes this group above others. [player_tooltip player_id='1653433' first='Dejon' last='Knutson'] is so explosive and is blessed with fantastic hands. [player_tooltip player_id='1336932' first='Sam' last='Aparicio'] arguably is the best route runner of the group, pound for pound. [player_tooltip player_id='1226889' first='Max' last='Baehman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1612305' first='Christian' last='Miller'] bring larger bodies that can win out wide with their length and vertical speed.

Outside of the Top 100 you have some athletes who are ready for their breakout summer and fall. [player_tooltip player_id='1282584' first='Landon' last='Kibbe'] is an exciting athlete who already has some strong tape, but should step into a WR1 role this fall. [player_tooltip player_id='1733765' first='Clark' last='Butler'] is coming off an injury that forced him to miss 2025, but be ready for an explosive mismatch to retake the field for Bay Port this year. [player_tooltip player_id='1620323' first='Austin' last='Heling'] is a long athlete who can win in the redzone and out wide in 50/50 ball situations. There is so much talent and variety when it comes to the WR position. Don't sleep on this group or you are missing out on legitimate game changing weapons.

#3 Running Back

Coming in at #3 we have another traditionally strong WI position group. The running backs. This position group is tied with the #2 position group with 68 players ranked overall. The difference is the RBs are just behind the WRs with 8 Top 100 players. This is a very intriguing position. It has the elite talent leading the way, but this is also a group who may see a ton of breakouts this fall and that could push some of these athletes into the Top 100 and move this whole group up this list by the end of the summer.

Leading the way for the group is Green Bay Notre Dame RB [player_tooltip player_id='1620318' first='Kingston' last='Allen']. The 2027 RB is an elite talent who holds a pair of Power 4 offers from Northwestern and Wisconsin along with other FBS and FCS offers. At RB2 we have [player_tooltip player_id='1647055' first='Austyn' last='Wittek'] who also brings feature back talent with his size, strength, and athleticism.

Behind those two premier talents we have athletes that could be lining up for their breakout season. That includes guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1335708' first='Tristan' last='Berrens'] of Hortonville who brings a massive frame and a powerful running style to the field. [player_tooltip player_id='1336951' first='Jerell' last='Anderson'] is ready for his role to continue to grow and show off his strong contact balance. [player_tooltip player_id='1315891' first='Kain' last='Strong'] of West De Pere is ready for his role to grow into the RB1 role also after serving as a contributing backup in 2025.

To go along with the top end talent, and the high end potential we have guys who have established themselves and will be legitimate D2 level recruits or potentially more. That includes RBs like [player_tooltip player_id='2103489' first='Aidan' last='Devine'] of New Berlin West who brings an intriguing blend of power, balance, and athleticism. [player_tooltip player_id='1284286' first='Jax' last='Pesch'] of Waterford has done a great job of getting better and stronger every year so I am very excited for this year as he enters his most important summer. We can also look for more exciting plays from Arrowhead's Jebari Craig. The RBs of 2027 are going to be so fun to watch. Make sure you all are dialed in on this group.

#4 Defensive Backs

We move to the defensive side of the ball for the first time with our #4 position group. The defensive backs have strong representation from both safeties and cornerbacks. Overall we have 58 ranked players and 9 of them are holding down a Top 100 spot. This position group features FBS talent at both the safety and CB positions, some of which is already committed. Let's talk about the group overall.

Leading the way we have safety [player_tooltip player_id='1045089' first='Dustin' last='Roach'] out of Catholic Memorial. The Wisconsin Badgers commit dominates with his instincts, range, and playmaking. He has been a force on both sides of the ball for the Crusaders. [player_tooltip player_id='1226899' first='Brady' last='Lee'] of Aquinas is our #1 uncommitted DB. He holds down a safety position for the Blugolds, roaming around the back end making plays on the ball. Our #1 CB is Catholic Memorial's [player_tooltip player_id='653861' first='Zy'aire' last='Smith'] who has a D1 offer from Eastern Michigan thanks to his outstanding quick twitch reactive athleticism. This group also includes rapidly rising ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1620343' first='Zeke' last='Zuberbuhler'] who has been hot on the recruiting trail recently.

Joining those athletes are more kids who are just starting to make some noise. [player_tooltip player_id='1922515' first='Cooper' last='Borowicz'] of West De Pere had a big breakout year in 2025. [player_tooltip player_id='1620319' first='Christopher' last='Kenesie'] has also been hot on the recruiting trail recently with multiple offers coming in for the versatile athlete. [player_tooltip player_id='1234156' first='Kaleb' last='Napoleon'] of Menomonee Falls will be one to watch at CB and [player_tooltip player_id='2085664' first='Owen' last='Munson'] of Chippewa Falls is a safety to check out. This is a group to not sleep on. There is something for legitimately every level.

#5 Quarterbacks

Our Top 5 position groups wraps up with the Quarterbacks. The group features 42 ranked signal callers and headlined by 8 QBs within the Top 100. The group is headlined by one athlete with a D1 offer, and then a strong collection of talent who should see their fair share of D2 and potentially D1 offers.

Leading the way we have QB1 [player_tooltip player_id='1226894' first='Tyler' last='Wollin'] of Lake Mills. The signal caller is a technically refined passer who also offers some dual threat abilities too. Tyler already has so much production backing his high end talent too. Chasing him at QB2 is [player_tooltip player_id='1226914' first='Jamison' last='Larsen'] of Waukesha West. Jamison made a big leap in his skills as a passer. He already had outstanding size and running talents, but in 2025 we saw a more refined passer and this offseason we are seeing him put in a lot of time and dedication to developing further as a passer.

The next wave of guys is very deep and should be exciting to follow both on Friday nights and in terms of recruiting. [player_tooltip player_id='1083381' first='Nolan' last='Hanson'] leads the way out of Arrowhead. In his first year he led Arrowhead to a D1 State Championship. [player_tooltip player_id='1620330' first='Keegan' last='Best'] is the next impressive QB talent to come out of the QB factory that is Franklin High School. [player_tooltip player_id='1227286' first='Eli' last='Ogi'] is a QB who has done so well in the offseason of developing his talent the past few offseason, and his rise might not be done either.

The QB position also features kids who could see a massive breakout this fall. [player_tooltip player_id='1336925' first='Austin' last='Munzel'], [player_tooltip player_id='1733717' first='Matthew' last='Wickersham'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1300195' first='Joey' last='Shaw'] are all kids who have starting varsity experience, yet have even more talent to tap into and show off this fall. [player_tooltip player_id='1870508' first='Ethan' last='Forrett'] of Janesville Craig is a raw athlete who could also be in line for a leap in development and on-field production. There is a lot to like and get excited about with the QB group for the Class of 2027.
