I am very excited to see Dejon’s hand eye coordination in person. His ability to hone in on the ball and reel it in while contorting his body is next level for a high school prospect. He also shows an array of other skills like awareness and vision that I am looking forward to seeing.

I love that we are seeing several juniors who are alumni of previous Showcases returning to show their development and continue to raise their stocks. One such athlete is Verona WR Dejon Knutson. The ’27 WR is set to be WR1 for Verona, and he is also ready to launch a summer of proving his individual talent. I’m pumped to watch Dejon in 1 on 1s. In past showcases we have seen Dejon dominate as a WR and also take reps and win at DB. Every time I watch Dejon he makes one of the plays of the day, so I’m ready for the show he will put on Sunday. No doubt about it, he will be one of the top athletes for coaches to watch on Sunday and throughout the summer.

. I love this kid’s game. He can stretch the field with speed and has great body control to instantly break into his route. I love the way he attacks the football and can contort his body to find ways to secure the catch. Give me a fast, explosive playmaker who always finds a way to reel in the ball every chance I can get it. I have a feeling Dejon is going to be a big winner this summer.

. The 6′ 160 lbs 2027 WR is a dominant athletic specimen. He is an athlete that can do everything out wide with speed and quick twitch agility. His elite ball skills and strong hands allow him to take the top off the defense and battle through contact to secure catches. He has a powerful lower body that bursts him out of route breaks to open up separation for his QB to easily target. His ability to track the ball jumps off the tape too. Dejon is a kid that can get open before the catch, but will also easily go and make a play for his QB.

Dejon was a favorite of the coaching staffs in attendance. The junior athlete took reps at WR and DB and shined at both. The coaching staff was actually split on if he was better at WR or DB. Dejon has a 6’3″ wingspan, 4.84 40 speed, ran a 4.41 shuttle, jumped 9’1″, and ran a 6.47 L-Drill. Even with those great numbers, Dejon plays even faster on the field. He sets up DBs, putting them in bad leverage positions, explodes through route breaks, and the 2027 WR has some of the best hands of the attendees. Make sure to check out the tape from his first year as a consistent varsity contributor because the traits shine in his highlights as well.

Electric route runner. Explosive agility paired with body control to dominate with his ability to get out of route breaks and back to top speed. Excellent hands and ball tracking deep downfield. Has made some insane catches as a sophomore.

. The kid is a playmaker. Speed to stretch the field. Natural ball skills to not only track it and adjust on the fly, but to also reel in some wild catches at awkward angles and body positions. Dejon has the wow abilities that grab your attention with his raw talent. What has me so excited is that he was raw back in 2024. With an offseason under his belt we could see even more refined route running. He has the balance, footwork, agility, and acceleration to take that next big leap. I’m excited and hoping to see him on Friday nights and see it all start to come together. Knutson is a mismatch to be well aware of.

, WR out of Verona. I have a strong feeling that a lot of people are going to be joining me on the hype train after a few Friday nights of watching him give DBs problems. Dejon is extremely explosive when it comes to change of direction. He can get back to top speed so quickly out of his breaks, demonstrated by a 4.13 shuttle. The top end speed to stretch the field shines on his tape, and I have been lucky enough to see his hands in person and the way he plucks the ball out of the air, away from his body. Or snags it with one hand to make the highlight reel play when it is the only choice. The 2027 WR is about to turn a lot of heads, so get ahead of it and join me now. Big things ahead for Dejon.

Leaving the event, this might have been my favorite athlete performance of the day. Learn the name now, because big things are about to happen this fall for Dejon on the Verona varsity. The 5’11” 155 lbs sophomore is a very talented WR. 4.6 40 speed to get deep and pull away from DBs. 4.13 shuttle time and 7.03 L-Drill times show off his elite change of direction, foot speed, and balance. The sophomore is so explosive. Off the line he erases cushions and he is so quick in and out of breaks that you almost have to guess to stay with him through those breaks. The ball skills are excellent as well. Dejon had the catch of the day reeling in a one handed catch while falling to the ground after taking contact. The ’27 is building himself into a matchup nightmare for CBs.

I having a strong feeling that we are about to see a breakout junior season from Dejon. The door is open at the WR position for Verona with the talent they graduate there. Dejon brings the talent to break a game wide open out wide. The 6′ 160 lbs WR shows a quick release and burst to get vertical on his deep routes. He does an impressive job of finding the ball and adjusting to it on those deep routes too. His ability to make the catch while jumping or twisting or some other adjustment last second is not something you see often, especially how smoothly he does it as a sophomore. The sophomore also has very reliable hands that pluck the ball out of the air, and away from his body. His route running on shorter routes flashes his balance and agility, allowing him to run crisp routes that open up separation. Dejon looks ready for the step up in competition. Keep a close eye on this tough matchup.
