Stat Line: 3 Receptions, 165 Yards, 3 TDs

A stat line that reminds me of the Randy Moss Thanksgiving Day game. Dejon spent Week 1 showing off what makes him one of the best WRs in the state. On his first TD Dejon settles into a soft spot, makes the short catch, and then flashes the explosive acceleration that leaves the closing DB in the dust. TD #2 was a deep shot where Knutson again left the DB in the distance as he tracked down the ball and scored. In just a few touches Dejon was able to show that he could attack every level of the field with some unfair athleticism and ball skills.

I’ve seen it happen on tape and I have seen it happen live. Verona WR Dejon Knutson Dejon Knutson 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Verona | 2027 State WI has some of the best hands in the state, and it has me very confident that he will deliver the catch of the year this fall. Honestly the kid might already have 2 or three of the best catches I have seen while doing this job. He has the combination of soft, yet strong hands. Plus the ability to adjust his body at the last second to get in position to have a shot at a catch stands out from the crowd. His natural ability to catch the ball is special. This is a kid that gives you confidence to just throw it up to because he is going to find a way to reel it in.

One of WI’s best receivers came out to Oshkosh and put together a day that had coaches lining up to talk with him. The explosive WR left no doubt that he has the athletic tools for the WR position at the next level. Dejon put up a 4.5 40, 4.31 shuttle, 9’4″ broad jump, 6.91 L-drill, and a 34.4″ vertical. No question the top end speed, agility, explosive change of direction, and body control are all there. Dejon is able to take those traits and produce on the field too. The ’27 WR is able to create separation to quickly and once he gets that sliver of space he is going to make the DB pay. On top of those tools Dejon further separates himself with his hands. The dude finds ways to come down with the ball. The angles and last second adjustment that he is able to execute are rare to find. The ’27 WR out of Verona was able to end his day with offers from Winona State and Northern State.

As a “do it all” prospect at the receiver position, Dejon continued to wow me throughout the day. Whether it was in the L drill, broad jump, individuals or competition period, he had some head turning moments. He was on my player to watch list coming in and he surely didn’t disappoint, finishing top 5 in the broad jump and top 2 in the L drill. At only 6’0 flat Dejon plays bigger than what he is, although he has a knack for getting open, his toughness and supreme athleticism allow him to fight through tight coverage and continue to make plays.

I am very excited to see Dejon’s hand eye coordination in person. His ability to hone in on the ball and reel it in while contorting his body is next level for a high school prospect. He also shows an array of other skills like awareness and vision that I am looking forward to seeing.

I love that we are seeing several juniors who are alumni of previous Showcases returning to show their development and continue to raise their stocks. One such athlete is Verona WR Dejon Knutson. The ’27 WR is set to be WR1 for Verona, and he is also ready to launch a summer of proving his individual talent. I’m pumped to watch Dejon in 1 on 1s. In past showcases we have seen Dejon dominate as a WR and also take reps and win at DB. Every time I watch Dejon he makes one of the plays of the day, so I’m ready for the show he will put on Sunday. No doubt about it, he will be one of the top athletes for coaches to watch on Sunday and throughout the summer.

Our final WR drafted is Verona’s 2027 Dejon Knutson Dejon Knutson 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Verona | 2027 State WI . I love this kid’s game. He can stretch the field with speed and has great body control to instantly break into his route. I love the way he attacks the football and can contort his body to find ways to secure the catch. Give me a fast, explosive playmaker who always finds a way to reel in the ball every chance I can get it. I have a feeling Dejon is going to be a big winner this summer.

The best WR in the Madison area is Verona’s Dejon Knutson Dejon Knutson 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Verona | 2027 State WI . The 6′ 160 lbs 2027 WR is a dominant athletic specimen. He is an athlete that can do everything out wide with speed and quick twitch agility. His elite ball skills and strong hands allow him to take the top off the defense and battle through contact to secure catches. He has a powerful lower body that bursts him out of route breaks to open up separation for his QB to easily target. His ability to track the ball jumps off the tape too. Dejon is a kid that can get open before the catch, but will also easily go and make a play for his QB.

Dejon was a favorite of the coaching staffs in attendance. The junior athlete took reps at WR and DB and shined at both. The coaching staff was actually split on if he was better at WR or DB. Dejon has a 6’3″ wingspan, 4.84 40 speed, ran a 4.41 shuttle, jumped 9’1″, and ran a 6.47 L-Drill. Even with those great numbers, Dejon plays even faster on the field. He sets up DBs, putting them in bad leverage positions, explodes through route breaks, and the 2027 WR has some of the best hands of the attendees. Electric route runner. Explosive agility paired with body control to dominate with his ability to get out of route breaks and back to top speed. Excellent hands and ball tracking deep downfield. Has made some insane catches as a sophomore.
