One of the most impressive athletes among the RB position is 2027 Tristan Berrens Tristan Berrens 6'2" | 225 lbs | RB Hortonville | 2027 State WI . The sophomore is already bigger than most of the defenders he is going to go up against. Plus he has a year of experience as the RB1. As he enters his junior season it is time for him to make that leap. Time for him to truly show off the power within that frame to gain the tough yards as well as create yards after contact. It is exciting because Tristan’s film shows a kid who can really stride it out and beat defenders down the sideline. I have a feeling a big year is loading for this kid.

We go from one of the most agile athletes in the class to one of the most physically imposing athletes in the class. Tristan is an imposing 6’2″ 230 lbs running back. As you might expect, Tristan is a load to bring down. He is a one cut runner that has no problem running past arm tackle attempts. He is so big and strong that you get caught off guard when you see him hit the open field and hit that second gear to pull away from the field of defenders. Berrens is a workhorse back that can wear down a defense with his hard-nosed running style. This is definitely a kid to get your eyes on this summer and fall.

Tristan is an interesting prospect that could work his way onto varsity this fall and I wouldn’t be surprised. He has a unique combo of positions, RB/DL. At 6’2″ 205 lbs, the 2027 has the frame to grow into a force at either position. Hortonville is pumping out explosive, physical DL on the regular these days and Tristan could be next up with his powerful get off at the snap and closing speed in the backfield. On offense, the big RB also has that hard nosed running style that they like. So I could see him fitting there too as a backup option. He breaks tackles, has enough speed to get outside in the open field. This is a prospect I will be watching closely on the field, and will be interested to see how his body grows over the coming years as he finds he true home on the varsity team.

Hortonville does return their 2023 leading rusher, Levi Strange Levi Strange 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Hortonville | 2025 WI , to the team in 2024. However, the backup to Strange has graduated and that leaves a void of nearly 60 touches between carries and receptions. Next in line for those potential reps is 2027 RB Tristan Berrens Tristan Berrens 6'2" | 225 lbs | RB Hortonville | 2027 State WI .

The 205 lbs sophomore could pair with the 195 lbs 2025 Strange to make one of the most punishing backfields in WI. Berrens has sufficient speed when he does get into space, but he is at his best when he can create yards after contact and break tackles. He would be an exciting option that can keep pressure on the defense while Strange catches his breath or short yardage is needed to be picked up.
