of Arrowhead high school. In 2025 we saw Sam rotate on a very talented varsity OL while also playing some JV. This season we should see him take over one of the starting five spots. Until then we get to watch the big man show off his development at summer camps. The tape shows that the big man has the power to reset the line of scrimmage or instantly put his DL on the ground. Plus he has the mobility to be able to get up to level two and pick up LBs to spring his RB loose. The breakout is coming for Sam.
Sam is the first athlete in this list who is looking for his first offer. That is sure to come to an end over the coming weeks as he starts to perform in front of college OL coaches. Until then, dive into the 2027’s film.

The OL position in the Class of 2027 is elite. That is nothing new to this state, but even with those standards this group is special. So Sam holding a Top 10 slot among the position is just one example of my very high thoughts on his game.
The 6’8″ 300 lbs junior possesses rare size and length for the OT position. That frame creates immense force in the trenches. Over and over you see examples of his upper body strength as he rag dolls DL. The real dominance shines in the run game where he can lock onto his man and instantly drive them off the line to help create that positive surge to reset the line of scrimmage several yards downfield. The big man has effective mobility too, but if we can see even more development there and in his lower body flexibility we will see that wave of recruitment come rushing in. Give the tape a watch.

The athlete that I believe could be the biggest breakout candidate is

. He will be entering his first season at Arrowhead after moving here from Minnesota. Sam brings a lot of exciting tools. A 6’7″ 285 lbs frame has him looking like a future D1 recruit. Watching him live in the spring quickly increased my excitement for his first year in WI too. His footwork and short area mobility looked more improved and comfortable since his sophomore year, telling me he is growing into his frame. The rising 2027 doesn’t struggle with creating power from that massive frame either. He entered the offseason as an impressive, raw athlete. Now we wait and see how he enters the 2025 season. I will be keeping a close eye on him and any tape.

Sam was one of the athletes I couldn’t wait to see in person and my own hype was for good reason. The sophomore checked in at 6’7″ 285 lbs with an insane 7′ wingspan. What I loved to see was the proof of development compared to his film from last fall. What matched last fall was his strength to quickly overwhelm opponents. His massive frame is loaded up with power. Where the leaps in development were very visible were in his athleticism. Sam did so well showing flexibility to drop his pad level. He was able to cover ground quickly to stay square on his man, and the 2027 also did really well using his length to make first contact and also recover whenever he was slightly caught out of position. It was a great display of development from the sophomore OL.

Sam just came to Wisconsin this offseason from Minnesota, so this will be our first chance to see him live. So you can imagine my excitement knowing we will have measurements on his elite frame and then get to watch him work with the OL. Watch how his body control, balance, and flexibility to be able to play with leverage has developed this offseason. Cheever’s sophomore tape is a strong base to build on. I’m looking forward to seeing where he is at currently.

The Class of 2027 is going to give us a historically great OL group. One reason it is looking deeper than ever is because

moved to the state from Minnetonka, MN. Sam sure looks the part of a future recruit that is on every recruiting board in the Midwest and beyond.
Sam is starting to build an outstanding resume of talent and attributes. First off, the sophomore already stands at 6’8″ 280 lbs. Numbers that would have you think he’s a college sophomore, not a high school sophomore. After watching through his tape you start to feel bad for the kids he faced. Sam’s mass and power overwhelmed opponents, giving him the opportunity to manhandle the opposing DL/LB. There is so much room for improvement in the areas of his mobility, flexibility, and overall body control that will skyrocket his recruitment. Get eyes on this kid early.
