was a physical eye-catcher at the PJ Fleck RTB Prospect, which was far from lacking in massive human beings and prep football prospects. Measuring in at 6’1+ and 280 lbs., Lavoe had noticeable pop and heavy hands, but he was also sudden and twitchy, flashing a well-rounded skillset that was a tough matchup for opposing guards and centers. Should be a monster year for Lavoe this fall. No offers yet, but DT is a premier position on the recruiting trail, so don’t be surprised if things heat up quickly.

I love watching this kid play in the trenches. As just a sophomore we watched Zach help Arrowhead win the D1 State Championship back in November. The big man does a fantastic job playing with leverage. Every clip you see the knee and ankle flexibility to keep his pad level lower than the OL. From there he gets to flex his strength and hand use to quickly defeat blocks or drive his OL into the backfield. There are even clips of him already able to take on double teams, split them, and make the tackle. Plus the lateral quickness to help get around OL and stop the ball jumps off the tape, especially for a 280 lbs DT. Tap into his highlights.

. The sophomore DT started the 2nd half of the season for Arrowhead as they made a run to winning the D1 State Championship. In the middle of their dominant defense was the 6’3″ 280 lbs DT.
Turn on the tape and you see a massive DT with outstanding strength. Strength to both set a powerful anchor to control the line of scrimmage and upper body strength to literally throw IOL aside. Zach is violent to put it simply. He is quickly establishing the fact that he is too much to handle 1 on 1 and there are already examples of him being able to win vs double teams. The ’28 has a special ability to fire out of his stance quick and with force while also staying low. He also is elite at engaging with the leverage advantage. The Class of 2028 is the best IDL group I have seen and right there leading the way is Zach. Dive into the highlights for yourself of this dominant student athlete.
