I have a feeling that we were able to watch Zach kick off what will be a special summer for him. The 6’1″ 255 lbs ’27 spent his junior season as the LT for the D1 State Champions. He spent Sunday put together more evidence of the talent he has. Zach started his day with a 5.43 laser timed 40, and a pair of strong broad jumps going 8’4″ and 8’5″.
During 1 on 1s was where Zach really solidified himself as a top performer of the day. He spent most of his reps at guard and piled up a lot of wins. The ’27 showed that he could quickly set a strong anchor and strike. It was great to see him constantly working to reset his hands and staying in control of his opponent while doing it. His experience out at LT has really helped his footwork too as he showed that he could easily mirror IDL as they tried to work pass rush moves and counters. I’m excited to follow his summer because he is going to show that he has the power and athleticism needed to become an impact IOL at the next level. I hope to see him over the coming weeks at a padded event or two.

I’m becoming a fan of the Arrowhead OL more and more. We have already seen him in action twice this summer with that second time being padded. Among his peers Zach was able to stand out from the crowd with some dominant 1 on 1 reps and double team reps. I really like the way that Zach attacks with leverage. Every battle I watched from him I noted that his pads were always lower than the DL. Pair that advantage with the consistent leg drive that he showed and you get a rising OL who can drive DL out of the trenches and create that surge in the trenches that a successful run game needs. Keep an eye on the incoming junior.

Zach had a great day from what I saw and heard. I was able to watch the 1 on 1s and Zach was a constant winner playing inside at guard. There were multiple DL who were winning with speed and Zach was able to beat them when he met them. He has quickness out of his stance, flashes quick hands that always made first contact that were able to steer where his man ran. The sophomore was very quick reacting to counter moves as well. Even if he was a step behind he could recover by the time they made contact again. Zach has a solid base of power, hand use, and athleticism to continue to develop into a next level recruit.
