Expert Analysis
Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
With a recent transfer Nolan is actually the #2 QB in the WI Class of 2027 now. The D1 State Champion put together a great first year as starter where he showed off those college level attributes. The 6’2″ 210 lbs junior has the frame for the next level, and when you roll the tape you see the arm talent that will translate as well. Nolan made it look easy attacking the deepest parts of the field and doing it with accuracy and touch. The ’27 has such consistent mechanics from his feet to his throwing motion/releasae and is able to get the ball out quick. The ’27 is putting in the off-season work too, so I’m excited to see him at camps and better than ever on Friday nights this fall.

Stats: 7/13, 88 Pass Yards, 1 TD
When it comes to the size of the workload Nolan didn’t have to do a ton, but what he had to do was deliver when called upon. That is what the rising 2027 did. His TD pass came on a perfectly located pass that dropped right over the shoulder of his WR1 while he was in traffic. The junior also showed off great touch to attack the intermediate level in between defenders. Nolan is a technically sounded passer with a lot of arm talent, and he now has 14 games under his belt to build upon for a big senior season. This is one of the best at the position in terms of returning athletes. He is a need to know athlete.

Nolan made it look easy in Week 9. Lead your team onto the field, complete 75% of your passes with half of them going for TDs. Nolan is a special weapon at the QB position. The ball easily jumps out of his hand when attacking the deep third of the field and always seems to have the pinpoint accuracy that will be needed to win in the WIAA playoffs and the next level eventually. In his first year as the varsity starter Nolan has done a great job leading the team, producing as a passer, and showing off his accuracy and technically sound abilities. Stay tuned into what this kid does on a weekly basis. It is always a fun watch.

. His development has been quick over the past year both physically and as a QB. Watching him sling it around the field in person, once again, really allowed me to see just how special the arm talent is. Nolan has a bit of a unique throwing motion, but it is photocopy similar from rep to rep. That allows him to be very accurate. The throwing motion also gives him a very quick snap release that gets the ball out quickly. Something that Nolan has that not many kids at the HS level has is his level of arm strength. The ball jumps out of his hand the second he releases it. His ability to drive the ball into spots with velocity, and carry that velocity to the catch point is special. I can’t wait to watch him lead the Arrowhead offense this fall.

being in line for a big debut on the varsity team. He is poised to be QB1 for this coming season and beyond and the talent around him with supply him with ample chances to take over games. Nolan’s own exceptional talent will be a huge advantage as well. The sophomore QB has built a frame of a premier QB talent, and the offseason work will have him ready to show off his high level talent very early in the season. Nolan brings with him a live arm. One that can deliver passes that carry velocity to the target. An arm that can get the ball out with the snap of his wrist. Most importantly, an arm that has dialed in pinpoint ball placement. I’m jacked up to see him under the lights this season.

out of Arrowhead. The tape showed that a clear leap had been made over the past year from his size to his overall arm talent, but seeing a QB throw in person really let’s you get a feel for how impressive the arm is.
The overall takeaway is that Nolan is on a path of development that will give him a chance to play at a very high level of college football. Potentially the highest. The sophomore has a consistent, crack-the-whip throwing motion that was outstanding at putting velocity on the ball when needed and was always accurate. The consistency he has built up in his mechanics is impressive and it led to that consistent accuracy. The ’27 was really good throwing on the run too. The throwing motion seemed to get even quicker and more compact when he was on the move, but that didn’t affect the ball placement or velocity. The sophomore also showed off the footwork of a high end QB. Whether it was rolling out, 3 step with a hitch, or rolling out and resetting the sophomore did so well keeping his feet under him and in positions where he could start to create the most power and accuracy.
Nolan is a special prospect who is making strides in his development. I can’t wait to see him take over the QB1 job for Arrowhead. Coaches this is a kid to add to your boards today if he isn’t there already.

Rankings Rise: 35 -> 14
Not only did Nolan make the big overall jump, he also rose a ton in the positional rankings going from QB8 to QB2. From our last update to now Nolan is grown into more of your prototypical QB frame at 6’2″ 205 lbs. What has grown even more than the frame is the arm strength. Hanson’s sophomore tape shows a kid that will attack short, intermediate, and deep downfield with velocity. He can stand tall in the pocket and drive passes into windows with accuracy. Nolan also recognizes when he needs to use touch to drop the ball in a bucket instead of through a tight window. I’ve also been hearing some great things about his offseason training, so I’m pumped to see how he looks this summer and beyond.

. You can ignore the ranking on the left. The rankings are currently being updated and the rapidly rising 2027 signal caller is making a push for much closer to QB1 after a great season showing off his development. It is a great place for the current sophomore to be. Great facilities and coaching staff around him. The offense is balanced and brings back a ton of weapons at RB and WR for him to work with.
All these will come together to bring out the best in Nolan’s game, and there is a lot to bring out. The ’27 probably could have started in 2024 and been fine if he wasn’t backing up an FBS commit at the starting position. Nolan has the goods as a passer. Quick footwork, an arm that can hit every level of the field, and consistent mechanics that boost his accuracy. A big year is on the way for the breakout QB.

Arrowhead has a freshman QB with a bright future. Nolan impressed me throughout the day from testing to individual drills to the one on one battles. The freshman is a natural passer. Nolan makes it look easy pushing the ball downfield or zipping it 15 yards downfield on a rope. The 6′ 175 lbs QB has sharp mechanics that is able to maximize the velocity he can put into the ball. Nolan stood out in the drills that highlighted off platform passing or throwing on the move as well. Coaches need to get him on their boards early.
