Stats: 4 Receptions, 66 Yards, 1 TD
The Western Michigan commit had to work back from injury this season, but he proved in the D1 Championship Game that he is all the way back. With just four receptions Harper made a massively positive impact on the game. His TD highlighted elite ball tracking and hands to catch the ball as it dropped in over his head/shoulder while also with a DB right there on him. He also flipped the field with a 20+ yard reception where he was able to show off the speed going across the field. The senior also did some work in the short passing game, getting open quickly for his QB. The Broncos have a good one on the way.

for the route running that we want our Perfect WR Recruit to have. Harper has a great blend of route running and route savvy to his game. He is able to set up defenders and make them bite or commit with head fakes or double moves, and his more standard route tree is just as effective because of his physical tools. Harper has excellent balance and body control and that allows him to attack breaks quickly, and explode to top speed out of them. That very little sacrifice of speed allows him to create separation. The junior has so much proven success attacking every level of the defense. His route running is a must for this build.

Harper didn’t waste any time getting back to making big time plays on varsity. The junior has legit speed to rip the top off the defense and has the ball skills to easily track the ball and reel in those downfield, over the shoulder bombs. We get a little glimpse of everything in this week’s highlights. On top of the big play downfield, Harper also shows the elusiveness in the screen game, forcing defenses to pick their poison. Either stay deep and try to keep him in front or play press to try and take away that quick game. It’s a lose-lose scenario for them. The impressive route running that has had our attention for a while also is looking as polished as ever as he easily cuts on a dime and accelerates out of breaks. The junior is set for a big season that catches a lot of attention.

This is my dark horse selection for this category. Harper put up just over 300 yards in 2023 as a sophomore while leading the way for Arrowhead’s balanced offensive attack. We are sure to see more of that balanced attack, but while doing so we could see Harper have his breakout season as a junior. He has a great QB delivering him the ball. He himself has all the talent to get open, create yards, and make the special play that most can’t. If Arrowhead finds themselves in some high scoring battles throughout the season we could see big numbers from Hughes. No matter what the numbers are, though, this is a kid that is must watch for college coaches.

For a few years now Harper has been right there knocking on the door of being WR1 in this Class, and during this next update I think we see him take the spot. The 5’10” 180 lbs WR simply dominated defensive backfields as an underclassman. Now as an incoming junior things should only get more nightmarish for CBs and safeties trying to stay within striking distance of him.
Harper has plenty of long speed to play D1 football. We see him easily pull away in the open field from DBs and beat pursuit angles trying to cut him off. Even with the excellent long speed, the quickness and explosiveness in small areas is even more impressive. Harper is an effective route runner because of his quickness, his balance, and his explosiveness. We see several WRs be able to run clean routes that open up separation, but the way that Harper explodes out of breaks with power sets himself apart from the field. Hughes also shows that balance and power after the catch breaking tackles. On top of it all, Harper is great at tracking the ball and being able to get his hands on it. Once he does that its a done deal because of how reliable his hands are.
This is the guy to know among WRs in WI. He headlines a talented group of kids at the position.

When Arrowhead isn’t handing the ball off to Siner they get to throw it downfield to athletes like Harper. Harper is an accomplished track athlete to go along with his receiver play. Some of his highlights look like he is running the 100M dash more than playing football as he simply eats up cushion and runs right past DBs on the way to big plays. Harper has explosive acceleration off the line, out of breaks, and out of tackle attempts that he breaks through. The ’26 is able to get to top speed so suddenly. The WR’s balance at top speed has allowed him to become a dangerous route runner, opening up space for his QB to target and space for him to use after the catch. The ’26 only needs a little bit of space to make corners miss or get the angle on them then he is off to the races. The cherry on top is that the explosive athlete is great at tracking the ball and has reliable hands to reel in passes. Harper is a mismatch that creates fireworks on the majority of his receptions. A big fall is loading for him.

Never short on athletes, powerhouse Arrowhead High School had one of the fastest football and track rosters in the state this past school year. The first 2026 burner we’ll be highlighting is 5’10, 180 lb. WR

, who helped Arrowhead to a D1 state championship while setting a new state record in the 4×2 and qualifying for state in both the 200M (2nd place) and 4×2, which won state. Hughes PRed with a 10.91 100M this outdoor season, along with a 22.17 200M. He also clocked a 6.67 55M this past indoor season. Hughes is carrying the speed into the summer camp circuit, posting a 4.50 and 4.51 40 at the Iowa State prospect camp and a 9’8″ broad jump.
The rising junior speedster is a deep threat as a WR who can blow by man coverage as easily as you or I pass a fellow pedestrian on a walk, and can take the top off the defense and beat defenses vertically week to week. Hughes displaysgood contact balance after the catch and owns a strong lower body that can break tackles and beat defenders in space and 1v1 settings, quick change of direction ability, and good ball tracking skills. The 180 lber. is also a physical and willing blocker out on the perimeter, can line up at multiple WR positions, and is a solid route runner who breaks his routes off smoothly, works back to the football while it’s in the air, and can create separation at multiple points of a route. Hughes possesses obvious explosive ability, creating big-time splash plays against D1 competition, and was a major varsity contributor as an underclassman at one of Wisconsin’s most consistent and talent-ridden high school football programs. The junior tape is going to be an important data point in Hughes continuing to raise his stock as a high school football prospect. Raw speed is a great place to start!

The WR Class in 2026 is not short on talent at the top. Harper is another special prospect that is going to be a nightmare for the next two years to matchup with. His film shows plenty of examples where his pure speed is enough to create the big play deep downfield. That is far from his only high end trait. Hughes is also gifted with the quick twitch athleticism that gets him off the line and out of jams very quickly. He can start/stop on a dime in his routes forcing DBs to chase or play way off him. When they do play off it again plays into his hand because of his elusiveness in space. Then on top of it all, CBs have to worry about him quickly closing the cushion and delivering key blocks in the run game. Harper is showing a well rounded game that is only going to get better over the coming years.

Harper is the third leading receiver returning to the roster for Arrowhead. The only two above him are seniors that should still see plenty of targets this fall. However, there are a lot of targets to go around. That gives one of the top 2026 WRs in the state a chance to fully breakout and put himself on the map. Harper possesses the quick twitch agility and burst to be a menace after the catch in the short passing game. His body control already looked the part of a seasoned veteran in his freshman highlights, giving him the ability to run crisp routes at a high rate of speed. You have to love the fact that the kid is willing to do the dirty work out wide too. His blocking is going to spring some big plays this fall. Get ready to watch one of the top talents in the Class make his mark this fall.
