Expert Analysis
Ed OBrien | Prep Redzone Scout
Wills-Dixon plays with a natural feel for the game that is hard to teach. He plays middle linebacker and consistently shows the ability to read run plays before they even develop. Wills-Dixon is quick off the ball, trusts his instincts to hit the correct gap, and quickly gets downhill. He quickly recognizes the run before the snap in a few plays and fills the gap. Wills-Dixon is a little over 220 pounds and very physical at the point of attack. He quickly covers a lot of ground, as shown by the multiple tackles for a loss in his highlights. There’s not much on his highlights that show him in pass coverage. That’s not a knock on his game; it’s just an area that hasn’t been fully showcased on film. Overall, he’s a player who can set the tone for a defense and make his presence felt on every defensive snap.
Colleges have already taken notice. His early offer list includes Akron, Florida State, Indiana, and Auburn.

At first glance anyone with good sense is going to assume Willis-Dickson plays only on the defensive side of the ball. WRONG! When I asked what he prefers, he claims RB which of course made me start cheesing. However, you can find him with his hand in the dirt or standing up on the edge as a MLB or DE. This kid caught my eye immediately because of his size and attitude. As he develops it will become more natural carrying his luggage around. What do I mean by luggage? This kid is thick in all the right places and runs with a nice lean where defenders only have one option, and that is to bite his ankles off and hope that slows him down.

is a cross between Ron Dayne and Mike Tolbert. Google please. When the Black Team gets in short yardage or goalie territory, lock in on #9.

Wills-Dickson, a Delaware product, is the type of prospect that generates a ton of questions, promise. At 5-foot-10 and 210-pounds he doesn’t have the size of many of the Offensive and Defensive Linemen that we traditionally cover. That said, he’s also significantly bigger than many of the Running Backs we cover. Yet, either way, he’s a polarizing prospect. The Delaware native primarily plays Running Back on offense and Defensive End/Linebacker on defense. He’s athletic enough to run routes out of the backfield and adjust to catch passes; he can also keep those chains moving by running hard and picking up big chunks of yardage. Defensively he can pop pads with the best of them–but the question remains: Where will he end up? In early November, per a social media poster, he accumulated 400 total yards and six touchdowns, in addition to 12 tackles. There’s no doubt he can play, but where he’ll play and at what level, is worth watching over the next four years.
