Anthony makes it back-to-back WCAC Edge rushers topping the rankings as he maintains his #2 pre-season spot once again. Sweeney is a player with elite length with 35″ arms and an excellent long lean frame that continues to fill out with good bulk. I’ve watched Ant since his freshman year and he has developed & improved every season. He has that rare blend of length, athleticism and bend. Anthony plays with natural twitch and excellent hip work to get around the OTs side and bend down the line to get toe the QB quickly. He also plays with a high motor and able to pursue plays from the backside.
Sweeney is a prospect coveted by colleges right now with over 30+ P4 Offers from top teams all over the country. His positional versatility from the edge, as a stand up or hand in dirt DE, to go with his unlimited potential is why he is so coveted and a top prospect.

Sweeney is a highly touted recruit who has recently picked up offers from powerhouse programs like Alabama and Ohio State. He uses his length and athleticism to consistently disrupt opposing backfields, finishing the season with 7.5 sacks for a loss of 52 yards, 9 tackles for loss, and 49 total tackles. Just a rising junior, Sweeney is only scratching the surface of his potential, expect him to take his game to the next level and dominate over the next two seasons.

Anthony is a player I have seen since his freshman year and he has taken that next step to being a dominate player. He came on strong towards the end of this season and continues to improve his game.
A prototype edge rusher in todays game it’s no wonder he holds double digit Power 4 Offers. He possesses great length with arms to his knees. A frame that has started to fill out well over the last year and can hold 240lbs+ in time. Anthony displays elite get off & burst at the snap. Able to get off blocks quickly and bend the edge, getting down the line and to the QB quickly. He also displays great hips, able to re-direct and hold the edge as well as have quick COD to go an attack the ball. One thing I noticed this season with Anthony was that he has really added to his arsenal of pass rush moves. With extremely quick & active hands, Anthony can swipe away the OLs hands to keep them from getting a touch to him as he blows past them. He can rip thru, dip his shoulder under the arms of tackles, as well as a nice out & in move with push/pull to find the inside lane into the backfield.
A National Recruit in the making, Anthony has exceptional athleticism and a skill set that as he continues to get stronger will make him a top rush defender in the country. Very capable of being in the argument as a top overall prospect in these future rankings in what is a loaded class at the top. I look forward to seeing more of Anthony this spring & next season as I predict big things from him going forward.

Anthony played mostly on JV last season at RB/WR/DL and you can see his size, length and athleticism at play. At 6’4″ with arms past his knees and a lean frame that will fill out in no time, it is no wonder Sweeney holds 7 total offers already with four of them being Power 4.
I saw Anthony during practice last fall and recently during GC’s first scrimmage of this year. He moves like a top level player, fluid stride good bend and burst. He comes off the edge well and can see his development at the DE position. Uses his length to his advantage, flashes a rip move and able to reach out to get hands on the QB. You have to like the potential in Anthony’s game, with more bulk/strength added his frame he can be a force at the position.

Sweeney is emerging as a rare combo, playing running back and defensive end. He has a freakish skillset and size, he’s able to break away from the defense with his speed offensively and make TFLs shutting down the edge defensively. The power 5 offers are already rolling in and this prospect hasn’t even produced a varsity film yet. He already has offers from Florida, Miami, Buffalo, and Maryland just offered on the first of the month. Watch for Sweeney to rise very quickly in the rankings and on the recruiting scene with this continued absolute dominance.
