Justin transfers to SFA by way of DePaul Catholic (NJ) and makes his 2029 ranking debut as one of the top QBs. I was able to get eyes on him earlier this fall when he was at DePaul Catholic and he is every bit 6’3″+ with a long lean frame that will fill out nicely. Justin showcases a strong arm & is a good athlete. He can push it down the field let it rip with great velocity. Justin also possesses good mobility, able to extend the play and can run for yards. He is also the son of Former UMD & Chargers LB Shawne Merriman so he has great pedigree.
A player with tons of potential I can’t wait to see more of in the future. Justin has the tools to be a 4/5 star level QB and a possible National Recruit down the line. Colleges have taken notice of that as well – Justin already holds 5 total offers, three of which being P4 offers from Cuse, UMD and BC.

At 6’3”, 190 pounds, Merriman checks every physical box you want in a modern quarterback. More importantly, the tools show up on film. During his FBU Freshman All-American Game, he demonstrated the ability to operate an offense in rhythm, deliver the ball on time, and stay composed while splitting reps at the position.
Additionally, Merriman shows comfort throwing at all levels. He’s accurate in the short and intermediate game, yet still capable of pushing the ball downfield when opportunities arise. He also throws well on the move, including to his left, which adds another layer to his game.
Looking ahead, the trajectory is clear. If Merriman continues to refine his mechanics, deepen his understanding of the offense, and grow with each offseason, the ceiling is exceptionally high. With continued development, he has the potential to emerge as one of the top quarterback prospects in the country by the time his junior and senior seasons arrive.

Since December, he’s hit another growth spurt and added noticeable size to his frame, complementing one of the fastest releases at the entire camp (if not the fastest). His timing with receivers was spot-on, and that quick release will be a major asset when facing pressure in the future. He consistently delivered the ball where it needed to be, especially on tough out routes and deep posts. A future star at DePaul, his trajectory continues to point straight up.
