is a top prospect coming out of Salem. Benjamin stands at 6’2” 275 and is a very hard worker who plays on the offensive line where all the action happens. He is undeniably one of the best offensive linemen he is very polished and very technical on the line. Benjamin is a game-changer who can erase your top defensive linemen, once he puts them hands on you there is no getting away from him and he loves to pancake his opponent. He excels in run blocking but don’t think he is a one trick pony he can pass block well at a high level. He allowed 0 sacks on the season and 13 pancakes were given out. Benjamin also plays on defense and he had 6 tackles for loss and 3 sacks on the season to close out. Benjamin is a prospect to keep an eye out for in the upcoming season.

Havunen continues to show out at camps consistently winning 1 on 1 matchups. His base and footwork are phenomenal as he does a wonderful job of mirroring the defender and replacing his hands. Ben is always under control and uses his body strategically and efficiently. He is pound for pound one of the best prospects in the state of VA regardless of class. His ability to finesse charging D-linemen is truly impressive and his technique is beyond his years. His lower body strength and play strength are great assets. His flexibility, footwork, and hand placement make him one of the most technically sound prospects I have ever seen. The sophomore received his first offer Wednesday and expect many more to follow!!!

was a mountain of a young man and played like a man amongst boys. Havunen was, head-and-shoulders above everyone else and clearly the best offensive lineman in the group. Possessing great size at 6’1″ 272lbs, Havunen has the potential to pan out either as an interior offensive lineman or tackle. My guess is that he may end up playing tackle. Havunen moved extremely well laterally for someone his age and size. This allowed him to take away inside rushes by powering down with ease. Big enough, he simultaneously covered enough ground on his kick-step to prevent an outside rush. Most importantly, the young Virginian’s shoulders mostly stayed square to the line of scrimmage while all this was going on. Should Havunen get beat or find himself out of position he recovered extremely well, especially being disciplined in what he has been coached and not forgoing his technique. The last thing Havunen did nicely was use his hands. Whether it was punch-and-recoil, refitting on a defender’s chest, or hand placement to ride someone past the would-be quarterback, Havunen seemed to be a natural with his hands.

In an offensive line group that wasn’t huge in numbers, but was huge in ability, Benjamin Havunen took home MVP honors. It doesn’t take a football genius to take a look at Havunen and see that he’s a very strong kid for just being in the eighth-grade. The Virginia native is a thick, barrell-chested prospect who spends obvious time in the weight room and then uses that 275-bench press and 405-squat to muscle defensive linemen out of the hole. Getting a chance to watch him move through combine testing and individual drills, I learned that he’s a lot more than just muscle–he’s athletic for an interior big, as well. He tested phenomenally in the shuttle, clocking a 4.56 in the shuttle–which was better than some of the skill guys. Ultimately, he sealed the deal with his performance during 1-on-1’s. Once he got his bear paws on the opposite linemen, it was a wrap. I was specifically impressed with how strong and sturdy of a base he kept throughout the reps. He measured in at 6-foot-1 and 266 pounds, if he can get to that 6-foot-2/6-foot-3 mark, he’ll have a lot of opportunities at the next level.
