Each week I will pick and break down seven of the top games in Southern California.

I regressed last week going 4-3 with some tough losses.

Here is a look at some of the best games this week:

YORBA LINDA VS. HUNTINGTON BEACH

Yorba Linda has had zero dropoff despite losing its legendary coach this offseason. [player_tooltip player_id='2100424' first='Isaiah' last='Trujillo'] is a top two-way player in Orange County and ran for two touchdowns against Esperanza last week. Andrew Churney played quarterback last week after an injury to Yorba Linda's starter and played well with 317 yards and three passing touchdowns. Huntington Beach is led by Ohio State commit quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='415341' first='Brady' last='Edmunds'] who is averaging 207 yards per game on 70 percent completions with 11 touchdowns. Arizona State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1626424' first='Dylin' last='Bruce'] broke records as a returner last week and is a top receiver along with North Carolina commit [player_tooltip player_id='485966' first='Skylar' last='Robinson']. Yorba Linda is the best team Huntington Beach has played and vise versa.

The pick: Yorba Linda

https://twitter.com/ylhsfootball/status/2095019168286511212?s=20

TUSTIN VS. WESTLAKE

Westlake is 4-0 and had a nice win over a solid Laguna Beach team last week. Sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='2065935' first='Ford' last='Green'] averages 162 yards per game with nine touchdowns and has run for three touchdowns. Cal commit [player_tooltip player_id='1197240' first='Demare' last='Dezeurn'] is the top receiver for Westlake along with Cal commit tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1611219' first='Charles' last='Davis']. Tustin star receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1622362' first='Hayden' last='Koo'] has been playing quarterback for the Tillers since an injury to its starting quarterback and he is doing an admirable job. BYU commit [player_tooltip player_id='668740' first='Jeremiah' last='Williams'] leads the defense along with Oklahoma commit [player_tooltip player_id='1197214' first='Taven' last='Epps']. The defense is doing a good job keeping Tustin in games despite its limited offense. This may be a game where the first team to 21 points wins.

The pick: Tustin

https://twitter.com/Tiller_Football/status/2096150414060400641?s=20

PITTSBURG VS. MISSION VIEJO

Mission Viejo has cruised through the early part of the season with the exception of a road loss to Folsom in Northern California. [player_tooltip player_id='1291532' first='Brett' last='Burnor'] has been playing well at quarterback averaging 200 yards per game while only playing in the first half in two of the team's four games. Dude committed tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1382575' first='Luke' last='Karby'] is Burnor's favorite target with 10 more receptions than anybody else on the team. [player_tooltip player_id='1197564' first='Jack' last='Junker'] is another big play threat at receiver who will need to be unleashed for the Diablos to make a playoff run. [player_tooltip player_id='1621228' first='Jordan' last='Hicks'] leads Mission Viejo's secondary along with newly eligible [player_tooltip player_id='1515867' first='Kiingbaraka' last='Kizzee']. [player_tooltip player_id='1667624' first='Cash' last='Gervase'] is the primary run stopper for the Diablos at linebacker. [player_tooltip player_id='1621245' first='Javale' last='Jones'] has eight touchdown passes with no interceptions for Pittsburg and the Pirates were competitive against St. John Bosco recently. [player_tooltip player_id='2124177' first='Isaiah' last='Harrison'] leads the team in rushing and [player_tooltip player_id='1621190' first='Kenneth' last='Ward'] is a top receiver.

The pick: Mission Viejo

https://twitter.com/Brettburnor/status/2096664372152353240?s=20

CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC VS. HELIX

Cathedral Catholic played a brutal schedule in its first two games but got a blowout win over Mater Dei Catholic last week. [player_tooltip player_id='1284695' first='Koa' last='Smith-Mayall'] completed 10 of 13 passes for 203 yards with four touchdowns and ran for a 60-yard touchdown in the win. [player_tooltip player_id='2106842' first='Isaac' last='Cook'] had two receiving touchdowns and [player_tooltip player_id='1197204' first='Honor' last='Faalave'] had a receiving touchdown and is the best two-way player in the state. Helix has won three consecutive games. [player_tooltip player_id='1197608' first='Caden' last='Thompson'] is a good dual-threat quarterback and the Scotties run the ball well with three running backs. [player_tooltip player_id='1197328' first='Jeremy' last='Davis'] is one of the top linebackers in San Diego and Jeremy Robinson is a playmaker in the secondary. Jacob Andrew-Johnson is a skilled two-way guy as well.

The pick: Cathedral Catholic

https://twitter.com/Koa_SmithMayall/status/2099299924185924043?s=20

JSERRA VS. BISHOP AMAT

Bishop Amat is far and away the best team in the San Gabriel Valley, but hasn't had a real challenge yet. Domenico Duran has been excellent at quarterback with 199 yards per game with eight touchdowns and no interceptions. Justin Clinton has stepped into that lead running back role nicely. Edge rusher [player_tooltip player_id='2067711' first='Kj' last='Paea'] has eight sacks in just four games and [player_tooltip player_id='1621259' first='Matthew' last='Blalock'] has been excellent on defense too. JSerra has cruised since losing its opener to Sierra Canyon. [player_tooltip player_id='1284700' first='Hayes' last='Cloutier'] threw four touchdown passes on just seven completions in a rout of Oak Hills last week. [player_tooltip player_id='1611401' first='Will' last='Fredericksen'] runs the ball well when called upon and [player_tooltip player_id='1611307' first='Clark' last='Cokley'] can go off any time at receiver. [player_tooltip player_id='2106839' first='Godschoice' last='Eboigbodin'] leads the defense along with [player_tooltip player_id='1702658' first='Braylin' last='Spencer'], [player_tooltip player_id='1607174' first='Dylan' last='Brown'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1619039' first='Dylan' last='Fenn']. Bishop Amat's strength is its pass rush and JSerra has the tackles to neutralize that in [player_tooltip player_id='2106869' first='Jack' last='Schein'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2171342' first='Lincoln' last='Fa'alafi']. JSerra beat Oak Hills 63-0 and Bishop Amat beat them 22-3.

The pick: JSerra

https://twitter.com/JSerraAthletics/status/2098284287137333462?s=20

BISHOP GORMAN VS. MATER DEI

Mater Dei had its biggest win in a couple years with a 10-9 win over Centennial last week. The defense shined behind a three sack effort from [player_tooltip player_id='1197325' first='Dailon' last='Clanton Jr.'] and a big game from other linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1197270' first='Mike' last='Davis']. Quarterback is a big question for the Monarchs and they play three guys. [player_tooltip player_id='1611412' first='Cameron' last='Pooley'] recently committed to Colorado and is the best pure passer of the group. [player_tooltip player_id='432272' first='Russell' last='Sekona'] is a big dual-threat guy who can run over people. Freshman Paytyn Guess has the highest upside and many think he should be the full time starter. [player_tooltip player_id='1408794' first='Asir' last='Nembhard'] is a playmaking running back along with [player_tooltip player_id='2066025' first='Mark' last='Allen'].

Bishop Gorman beat St. John Bosco in Week 0 but suffered an upset loss the following week. [player_tooltip player_id='551874' first='Ace' last='Amina'] averages 222 passing yards per game with nine touchdowns and has earned the starting job after waiting and battling off transfers. [player_tooltip player_id='1669737' first='Noah' last='Cole'] leads the rushing attack for the Gaels and [player_tooltip player_id='965155' first='Tayaun' last='Lawrence'] leads the defense along with [player_tooltip player_id='560862' first='Hayden' last='Stepp'], who will make things very challenge for Mater Dei's receivers. Bishop Gorman is playing its third straight road game but the uncertainty of Mater Dei's offense worries me in this one.

The pick: Bishop Gorman

https://twitter.com/MaxPreps/status/2099562139774025869?s=20

ORANGE LUTHERAN VS. SIERRA CANYON

Orange Lutheran has won three games in a row after losing a heartbreaker in its season opener. The best unit for Orange Lutheran is its secondary with twins [player_tooltip player_id='1621200' first='Anhor' last='Johnson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1146376' first='King' last='Rich Johnson'] and playmaking safety [player_tooltip player_id='1717694' first='Chauncey' last='Washington']. [player_tooltip player_id='1197624' first='Matthew' last='Zapien'] is another good defender to watch along with Antoine Cason. Orange Lutheran has a strong pair of tackles in Texas commit [player_tooltip player_id='1197206' first='Lucas' last='Rhoa'] and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1203086' first='Mario' last='Luna'] to try to neutralize Sierra Canyon's defensive line.

Sierra Canyon has the best defensive front in the state with [player_tooltip player_id='1197327' first='Kasi' last='Currie'], [player_tooltip player_id='2065932' first='Stephan' last='Harrison'], [player_tooltip player_id='797093' first='Cooper' last='Cook'] and [player_tooltip player_id='958763' first='Marcus' last='Fakatou']. Fakatou transferred from Orange Lutheran and will be hungry to have a big game against his former team. [player_tooltip player_id='596193' first='Myles' last='Baker'] is one of the best defensive backs in the state and [player_tooltip player_id='1611209' first='Faruq' last='Muhammad'] makes plays in the secondary. [player_tooltip player_id='2252135' first='Demarco' last='Hernandez'] has played very well at quarterback and he was virtually unknown prior to the summer. [player_tooltip player_id='584471' first='Jaxsen' last='Stokes'] can make plays in the running and passing game out of the backfield and had a huge game against Orange Lutheran last season.

The pick: Sierra Canyon

https://twitter.com/CIFSS/status/2099610734875623763?s=20

HUNTLEY'S RECORD: 17-11
