Pooley averaged 122 yards per game with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions last season for Chaminade and battled for playing time with a stellar freshman at the end of the season.

There is a quarterback competition going on at Mater Dei and Pooley looked like a Trinity League starting quarterback on Saturday. His arm strength improved since the last time I saw him and he didn’t lose any speed while throwing on the run. He’s added some muscle since I last saw him.

At 6’3” 205 lbs. Pooley is a poised pocket passer with a strong physical profile and high level arm talent. Possesses a live arm, generating effortless velocity to drive the ball into tight windows and push it downfield with confidence. Throws a great deep ball with excellent touch, layering throws over second level defenders and placing the ball where only his receiver can make a play. While he operates primarily from the pocket, he has the mobility to slide, reset, and extend plays when the pocket collapses. He moves efficiently under pressure, keeping his eyes downfield and maintaining a calm, balanced base to deliver an accurate ball. His mechanics are clean and he shows consistent footwork that supports his accuracy and quick release. Gained valuable experience as a sophomore that should translate to more production over the next two years. Holds four D1 offers to date from some high level programs.

Pooley is one of the top spring risers at the quarterback position across Southern California and is poised for a huge Junior season for Chaminade. He has the ideal frame for the position and has definitely added size and throw power this off-season coming off his Sophomore year campaign and should continue to see his stock rise through the Summer. He is a true pocket passer that does a good job processing quickly and delivering on schedule throws while showing he can put good touch and spin on the deep ball over the top, throwing his receivers open. He does a good job not losing zip on the ball on out-breaking routes and can move through his progressions quickly while not afraid to take what is given in the flats or on shorter throws. He currently holds offers from Sacramento State, Auburn and Arkansas.
