Lang had 31 tackles, 10 pass deflections and a fumble recovery for Mater Dei last season.
Ohio State and Oregon were also top contenders to land Lang but he also had offers from Auburn, Georgia, Michigan and Texas among others. Lang is the fifth player from Southern California in USC’s 2027 recruiting class.

Lang, a 6-1, 165-pound four-star hybrid safety/corner with interest from USC and Oregon, is a reactionary athlete who flies to the ball with a mean streak. His strengths: physicality in coverage, solid instincts to play anywhere in the secondary, and a high-effort motor that racks up tackles (31 as a junior) and pass deflections (10). At Mater Dei, he’s versatile but his lean frame can be a weakness against bigger receivers in jump-ball scenarios, where he might lack the bulk to contest effectively. To counter Hale, Lang should attack with press-man technique to jam at the line, disrupting Hale’s release and forcing him into off-script routes. Use his quickness to undercut intermediates and his range to help over the top, turning Hale’s size advantage into contested opportunities.

Lang had 31 tackles, 10 pass deflections and a fumble recovery for Mater Dei this season and earned All-Trinity League honors.

Lang checks into our number six spot in this loaded 2027 defensive back class, and already holds offers from Utah, Texas, Tennessee, Florida and Cal with other national suitors on the way. He got plenty of playing time for one of the top programs in the country, and flashes on film in both coverage and run support. He shows that he can play both corner and safety and drops into the box and quickly can get into the backfield and make plays near the LOS with closing speed and is an excellent open field tackler. In coverage, he is a high IQ kid with a quick pedal and fluid hips in transition, while showing some good recovery length and speed when trailing and plays physical with his hands near the LOS. Playing well above his years, he is an elite prospect in this class and is one of the most well rounded defensive backs in the state and will be a 25+ offer kid.

Lang is a safety who flies around the field. He can close to the ball quickly in the running game and covers a ton of the field in zone coverage.
He had a strong showing at The Showdown Series in February.

Danny Lang is another athlete who has already made some noise on the national recruiting scene. The So.Cal Defensive Back has already collected a Power 5 offer from Maryland, and it’s well-deserved. The 6 foot, 190-pound DB is one of the most electrifying athletes that I have had a chance to evaluate. With Danny’s excellent speed and innate nature to find the ball, he is already proving that he is one of the best athletes in his class. Whenever Danny has the ball in his hands, it is going to take the effort of the entire opposing team to try and take him down. Danny is a pure athlete who can do whatever he wants on the field and he has shown that very early on. I expect Danny to continue to excel on the gridiron and to continue to stack up more offers through out his high school career.
