Expert Analysis
Michael Huntley | Prep Redzone Scout
Danns had 25 tackles with three interceptions for Servite last season as a freshman and has since transferred to Mater Dei.
He’s best in man coverage but can play zone as well and adjusts to the ball well in the air. As a run defender, he sets contain on the outside well and is a willing tackler.
Danns is sticky in man coverage and transitions well from his back pedal to turn and run. He recently had an excellent showing at The Opening camp in LA and picked up an offer from Cal.

Danns recently transferred out of Servite and into Mater Dei where he is capable of becoming a national level recruit. 6’0” 160 lbs. he carries his length well and shows the athletic ability to match up and lock down on the outside against top tier competition. Tough to gain separation on, he stays attached to receivers with smooth transitions, controlled footwork, and natural coverage instincts. Holds the speed to stay in phase carrying vertical routes and the change of direction to match movement underneath. Works comfortably in multiple coverages, showing effectiveness in press situations where he can use his hands to reroute as well as in off coverage where he keeps plays in front and reacts downhill. In zone, he flashes good vision and field awareness with the range to peel off and close space as the QB works through the progression. Initial college offer from North Carolina but will explode as the cycle progresses.

Recent Offer: North Carolina
Danns is another one of the top defensive back prospects in this loaded ’29 class across southern California and has outstanding hips/footwork in transition and has natural ball skills and return abilities. He has shown he can hold his own as a freshman in the toughest league in the country and should only continue to rise up the ranks heading into his sophomore season for Servite.

Long, athletic cover corner with a lean 6’0″, 160-pound frame and clear upside as a perimeter defensive back. Shows fluid hips and quick feet, allowing him to stay in phase with receivers and mirror routes effectively in man coverage. Displays confidence playing on an island, with the speed and recovery ability to handle vertical threats down the field. Comfortable in press or off-man, using length to disrupt timing at the line and close throwing windows. In zone coverage, demonstrates good awareness and anticipation, reading the quarterback’s eyes and breaking quickly on the football. Ball skills continue to develop but flashes the ability to locate and compete at the catch point. Willing tackler who shows effort in run support, though added strength will help him finish more consistently. Overall, projects as a high-upside cover corner whose length, athleticism, and coverage instincts make him an intriguing prospect as he continues to physically mature.

Last but not least is Buckeyes DB Isaiah Danns. Zay, as he goes by, is another DB/WR hybrid who demonstrates great athleticism. More importantly than that however is the technical ability he showcases as a corner. Fluid hips and great anticipation lead to Danns being a PBU machine, constantly going up and swatting passes out of the sky like bugs. Danns showcases in a few clips his great ability to read a receiver’s eyes, in one instance having his back completely turned away from the throw but still throwing his arm back and breaking up the pass right as it arrives. Overall Danns is a sound and technical corner, a true coaches dream
