Expert Analysis
Michael Huntley | Prep Redzone Scout
Davis moved well laterally during the drills and the one-on-one period and won some reps during the one-on-one period. He’s very competitive and he was busting his tail all day even though his skillset doesn’t seamlessly translate to camp settings.

Davis was the Ironwood League defensive player of the year last season at Aquinas and led the team in tackles.
He’s a versatile linebacker who can play inside or off the edge. Davis does a good job shedding blocks and takes good pursuit angles. He’s aggressive tackler who finishes well and can make plays in the open field. Davis drops to his zone quickly in pass coverage and closes to the ball well. UNLV has offered him and it will be interesting to see what role he plays in Mater Dei’s defense.

Davis has three down ability with a wide skillset to be effective as a run stopper or dropping into coverage. 6’1” 205 lbs. he’s got a strong athletic build but has room and time to grow/add weight. He’s fluid when redirecting and chasing showing he can close on the ball carrier with plus change of direction and short area burst. Does a good job playing square to the LOS and scraping over the top working laterally to the ball. Makes quick decisive reads and reacts to trigger with good angled pursuit and speed. Plays with leverage and finishes through to deliver heavy contact as a tackler. Flashes good ability to engage blockers and then shed to free himself up. Solid zone dropper in coverage that can get in passing lanes and play the ball in the air. Highly ranked 2027 LB in the state and expect to see his recruitment to take off.

Davis checks into our rankings as the number six linebacker in this 2027 class, and as a top 60 overall prospect across the state of California. He is a tackle to tackle plug that has fluid movement skills, quick COD abilities and is very well built for a first year prep player. On tape, he is a violent player that shows he is not afraid to come up and run through lead blockers, and quickly reads plays with disciplined eyes and quickly triggers and gets into his run fit. He is a low to the ground player that can go through or bend around offensive linemen, and shows closing speed in space and is a excellent open field tackler behind the LOS or in the flats. He also shows cover abilities downfield and can turn and run with backs and bigger receivers/tight ends. Starting as a first year player for one of the more respected programs in the state, Look for Davis to have another three years of dominance and be a next level kid at a high level.
