Clanton had 36 tackles, 3.5 sacks with a forced fumble and a blocked punt last season.
He was more of an edge rusher than a prototypical linebacker last season for Mater Dei and was explosive off the ball. Clanton is a natural bender and can lower his shoulder to get around tackles without sacrificing his speed. He takes good paths to the ball and can lay big hits on people.
Clanton has offers from Utah, Arizona State and San Diego State among others.

Clanton is a young up and coming star for the Monarchs and is part of a very impressive rising Sophomore class they have. He is a well put together kid, especially for his age and runs well for his size while a violent hitter in the box that flows well to the ball and can also cover in space/get into the flats quickly. Clanton will have no shortage of Varsity playing experience by the time he gets going into his Junior campaign and is one of the better young linebackers across the state.

Clanton led all Mater Dei freshmen with 20 tackles last season.
There is not a lot of film on Clanton but I first heard about him a year ago as an edge rusher who can also play linebacker.
He earned special teams Player of the Week honors in a win over Creekside of Georgia.
