Expert Analysis
Michael Huntley | Prep Redzone Scout
Hicks had 62 tackles, three forced fumbles and five interceptions for Mission Viejo last season after transferring from Santa Margarita.
He is excellent in man coverage and has the closing speed to frequently jump routes and get interceptions. Opponents should just steer clear of throwing out-breaking routes near the sidelines against Hicks because he will jump it and get a pick. Has the quick feet to stay with receivers and not have to be too physical and draw flags. Hicks has offers from LSU, Michigan, Texas A&, Florida, Oklahoma and USC among others.

Hicks’ size helps give him an advantage at the cornerback position, and that showed up against the run in the Diablos’ Week 0 win over Santa Margarita. He had six tackles in the game and nearly came away with an interception in the red zone. Hicks has an impressive ability to shed blocks and make tackles in the open field.

Hicks is coming off a very nice Freshman season for Mission Viejo and is well on his way to becoming a national recruit. He is very technically sound in man coverage, fluid in transition with tremendous ball skills and a quick trigger when making plays on the ball. He has disciplined eyes, knows when to break-off in zone coverage and has elite length and size for the P4 level. Hicks already holds 5 offers, and should really blow-up in his second season and into next off-season.
