Mater Dei’s receiving corps is elite and a question for most of the season has been Hopkins getting them the ball. He was outstanding in Mater Dei’s last game against St. John Bosco with 295 yards with five touchdowns. If Hopkins is getting hot at the right time, Mater Dei could be celebrating its third straight championship.

Hopkins threw for 1111 yards with 13 touchdowns and ran for eight touchdowns for JSerra last season.

He’s the fastest quarterback in the county and ran the best 40 time at the Elite 11 Regional and the Under Armour Next camp with a 4.56. Hopkins has nice touch on the deeper throws and has improved his accuracy quite a bit. We saw a very good quarterback become an elite quarterback after arriving at Mater Dei last season and Hopkins may follow that same recipe this season. He is committed to Wisconsin.

Mater Dei quarterback Ryan Hopkins Ryan Hopkins 6'6" | 185 lbs | QB Mater Dei | 2026 State CA announced his commitment to Wisconsin last Sunday.

Hopkins threw for 1111 yards with 13 touchdowns and also ran for eight touchdowns last season for JSerra. He was the fastest quarterback at the Elite 11 Regional in Los Angeles and has been having an excellent track season this spring.

Wisconsin won out over Arizona, Michigan State, Utah and Washington among others. He is the lone player from California and the only quarterback in Wisconsin’s 2026 recruiting class.
