This past Saturday, nearly 200 Upper Midwest, primarily led by home state Minnesotans, congregated on the first-class Plymouth Community Center for a day of competition, learning, and networking. The PrepRedzoneMN Spring Exposure Series' Showcase was the state's premier warmup and introduction to the chaotic yet essential Summer Camp SZN, where the first two weeks of June represent arguably the two most important weeks on the recruiting calendar and scholarship money begins to get tossed around like Monopoly. Split into two sessions, the PRZMN Spring Showcase featured three sections: 1) athletic testing, verified with laser technology, 2) individual technique and position-focused coaching, led by college coaches from local DIII and MIAC schools, and 3) 1v1 competition. With this many competitors to choose from and PRZMN's team of scouts working hard and evaluating position by position, it is time we turn our attention to the vaunted Session 1 All-Camp Team. Four position groups (OL, DL, LB, RB), three teams and an honorable mention, and two states represented here! Congrats to the selections!

Your PrepRedzoneMN Spring Showcase OL and overall MVP comes out of Western Wisconsin and the always-talented New Richmond High School program. 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2152834' first='Andrew' last='Gretzlock'] was a tremendous surprise and new-found talent previously under-the-radar to both PRZMN and PRZWI, but no longer. Coming in at a verified 6'4, 248 lbs. with a 77" (6'4" wing) and 9.75" hands, Gretzlock looked and held a frame more reminiscent of a lean, frightening, freaky off-ball LB, with a ridiculous amount of room to fill in, the Western Wisconsin product popped off a 4.75 shuttle, ridiculous 8'7 broad, and a sub-7-second L-drill to really catch your attention athletically-speaking.

Gretzlock followed things up with a very impressive performance during 1v1s, dominant in fact, handling a blend and variety of pass rushing body types and skill sets thanks to his outstanding combination of footwork, balance, length, bend, and flexibility. With above and beyond the smoothest and most technically sound pass set in attendance, Gretzlock could fly out of his stance and had a great first step that helped him handle explosive pass rushers right off the snap, and he was consistently cutting off DL and played with great angles in his pass set. Additionally, the sophomore was patient when setting to the top of the arc, which allowed DL to play out their attempted pass-rushing moves and overcommit before easily punching and getting hands on without overreaching or oversetting, and he was physical and mean, but not cheap, after getting hands on in his pass set. Pass pro doesn't need to be passive! I see a FCS floor and a P4 ceiling, but D1 and FBS offers will be coming in one day soon here. Must-know name going into the Summer Camp SZN out of Western Wisconsin.

What a breakout performance from Anoka's [player_tooltip player_id='1556202' first='Dustin' last='Burton']! The most pleasant surprise, the biggest stock riser, the most dominant 1v1 showing, and the most superlatives are just a few of the awards and honors bestowed upon Anoka's OC/OG thanks to his performance at the PRZMN Spring Showcase. Burton, at a legit 6'2, 293 lbs., started things off with a 4.99 shuttle and 7'9 broad jump to highlight some athleticism and explosiveness, but the pot got even sweeter during 1v1 competition. Burton was absolutely shutdown from his iOL spot, with an easy, fluid, concise, yet powerful pass set that included a rock-solid base, great balance, heavy hands, and big-time strength. Burton proved he could also gain depth in his pass set and win pass reps against speedier iDL, and was light on his feet and did a great job of readjusting, staying square, and keeping his hands active as he stonewalled DTs over and over and over. Once he dropped his hips and set his base, Burton was halting rushers in their tracks dead stop, and was doing so without breaking a sweat. NSIC schools: you've been warned! Get to this kid to camp.

Coming in at a verified 6'6, 269 lbs, Blackman kicked things off with a 7'6 broad jump, and the size + athleticism combination was simply too much for rushers to handle on Saturday morning in Plymouth. Blackman could handle speed rushers attacking his outside shoulder, was laterally agile and light on his feet, and could halt defenders in their tracks once he got those long arms and near-10" hands on a rusher. Scholarship potential oozing all over him. Keep an eye out for this OT during the Summer Camp SZN.

Good overall technique, obvious physicality and toughness, strength at the contact point, and coachable and then some. Now verified at 6'5, 214 lbs. with a 78" wingspan, Elachi manufactured a 4.59 shuttle and 8'4 broad jump, a dangerous combination of twitch and explosiveness at his size, and Elachi knew how to use it when it came to 1v1 competition as well. Great get-off, good leverage for his size, long, twitchy, and was consistently winning as a speed rusher threatening OT's upfield shoulder. If they overset or got out of position, Elachi could easily work it back inside, and the frame could add a significant amount of weight when projecting to the next level. Closing speed in droves, overwhelming length at the catch point, quick enough to stay in-phase with streaking RBs, and the top-end speed to stay with RBs working vertically. Always good to get some promising, laser-verified athletic data behind a prospect who are willing to stand on the table for, and PRZMN was impressed when Meaway produced a 4.81 laser 40, 4.33 shuttle, and 9'1 broad. Looks like someone's offseason has been productive! Meaway - acting as a front-of-the-line leader and presence in the RB group - was the position group's unspoken big dog - based on demeanor and play, and he also had the best footwork, smoothly and flawlessly stepping up and cruising through drill work (led by Augsburg coaches) that other RBs were struggling with. Additionally, Meaway was outstanding during 1v1s, with lethal twitch, obvious strategy, intention, and execution as a route runner, and deep speed to boot. Meaway was out there having fun with it, as well as making it look easy, and was an easy choice for a RB MVP nomination and First Team All-Camp from Saturday's competition.

Nimble despite the hulking size, Jones kept his feet and hands active throughout his pass set, and as the strongest OL in attendance, that had a shutdown impact on rushers. Jones could handle speed, twitch, and power alike, could readjust laterally and showed good balance that allowed him to tie up twitchier rushers with consistency, and he did a great job of hand fighting and playing and catching a rusher when they were reaching or trying to get hands on. There was some nuance and craftiness to his game, as well as sheer size and strength, so it's safe to say this is a big name to know in Minnesota's 2028 OL class.

Burnsville has one of the more interesting groups of underclassmen in the Metro coming up through their ranks, and PRZMN added yet another fun Blaze name-to-know thanks to his performance at the PRZMN Spring Showcase. DL [player_tooltip player_id='2067625' first='Jamari' last='Sargent'] was a favorite of both the coaches in attendance and the various PRZMN scouts, and his get-off, lateral agility, active hands, and ability to hand-fight and disengage from OGs and OTs post-initial contact made him a threat at multiple points throughout a rush. Loose hips, good motor, and good cardio as well, he didn't seem to get tired, and was working against a legitimately-talented OL group in Plymouth to boot. Don't be surprised if Burnsville makes a big turnaround in the next year or two, especially with Sargent in the trenches.

One or both of the Thyen's parents were/are fast, cause the brothers can both fly, and Austin came into Plymouth and tallied a 4.8 flat in the 40 to really catch PRZMN's attention. With good size that came close to 200 pounds and nearly 6', Thyen was closing and taking the air out of RB's space in a blink, and he was balanced, controlled, yet aggressive breaking on the ball in coverage. Three-down LB who had a good day against seasoned varsity competition at the PRZMN Spring Showcase.
Another big-time LB name-to-know in Minnesota's 2029 class showed up and showed out in Plymouth on Saturday! Lindstrom native and Chisago Lakes High School freshman was not built like your typical first year, measuring in at a strapping 5'11, 200 lbs. with noticeable muscle definition and broad shoulders that look ready-made for working inside the box against varsity competition. After popping off a 4.84 laser-verified 40, Bakker showed off his well-rounded game that included coachability and a front-of-the-line mentality during drill work and indy, where his footwork, balance, and overall mobility looked more similar to a season upperclassmen as opposing to a rising sophomore. Bakker was also doing a great job of squeezing and closing with quickness, both in run and pass settings, and he upped his game during competition against a twitchy group of RBs. We'll be watching this 2029 LB closely this fall!

Talk about making an entrance to the recruiting scene! Mitchell got Session 1 cookin' early, popping off a 4.54 40 followed by a 4.59, both of which came on the lasers and right in front of PRZMN, much to our dismay. A brand new name to the PRZMN radar, Mitchell hails from the defending Class 5A champs Spring Lake Park, and the 5'10, 205 lb. brick of a tailback showed off some dazzling displays of athleticism outside of testing, where he also popped off a 4.59 shuttle and 9'9 broad.

Looking into things, Mitchell posted 97 rushes for 646 yards and 4 TDs on SLP's 13-0 2025 roster, and he was was shifty and light on his feet through drill work and 1v1s, with an obvious blend of power and twitch that his RB peers simply didn't possess. Though a bit inconsistent through RB indy and 1v1s, Mitchell possesses deep speed and some juice at the top of the route and in space, though he's more of a traditional runner than ultra-dynamic utility weapon out of the backfield. You could look at him on either side of the ball as well. Either way, Mitchell is a tremendous talent who had defenders on their heels thanks to his size/speed/quickness combination as an offensive weapon out of the backfield.
A 2028 out of Coon Rapids and Anoka High School, it was hard not to be impressed by [player_tooltip player_id='2161157' first='Moses' last='Boyce Jr']. on Saturday at the PRZMN Spring Showcase. A big, strong, strapping 6', 205 lber. with big hands and a sturdy frame that could add more mass and brawn in a college S&C program, Boyce Jr. went 4.81 and 4.85 in the 40 - on the lasers - and I was very impressed by his nimbleness and light feet during indy and drill work. He was springy, powerful, and explosive, with noticeable burst from a dead stop and some juice as a route runner, getting open on a variety of routes and against some quality LB competition on the turf in Plymouth. With 57 carries for 246 rushing yards and 4 TDs + 3 catches for 79 yards as a sophomore with Anoka's varsity last fall, I think Boyce Jr. is on serious breakout watch going into the fall.

Polished route runner, twitchy, strong hands, and juice in the open field during 1v1 one-move box drills against LBs, Nix was the total package and an explosive, productive, dynamic and consistent competitor throughout Session 1. After popping off a 4.71 40 to really catch our attention, Jensen displayed quickness at the top of the route and the deep speed to really take advantage of1v1 matchups with off-ball linebackers in coverage. With very little wasted movement and shifty, concise COD ability, Jensen also proved himself to be dynamic, and when running a route, the Shakopee Saber got off the snap and into the second and third level of the field like he was shot out of a cannon.
Two Rivers High School always seems to stock more than their fair share of beef on their rosters, with some of the bigger offensive linemen in Class 5A the past handful of seasons. It comes as no surprise that Two Rivers brought a big, physical trench warfare specialist into the PRZMN Spring Showcase last Saturday, and 6'2, 250 lber. [player_tooltip player_id='1665842' first='Jayden' last='Bender'] came to play. With a broad, hulking frame that carried his weight well, Bender was positionally versatile and heavy handed, able to win 1v1 pass-rushing reps from NG, 3T, or 5T, and he produced one of the more memorable reps of the entire session, planting an OC straight on his butt with a massive punch from the interior whose echo could be heard around the Plymouth Community Center. Bender also showed the ability to run the hoop on blockers, as well as hand fight, work a move, and disengage from OL with a counter if need be. Stock rising performance from the West St. Paul product!

Park of Cottage Grove had a strong showing at the PRZMN Spring Showcase on Saturday, and freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1877843' first='Leam' last='Hieserich'] did a great job of solidifying himself as one of the top OL in Minnesota's budding 2029 class. Good size, impressive balance, a motor that never stopped running, cardiovascular endurance, a strong base, and heavy hands.
The Goodhue Wildcats - while taking on the machine that was the Jackson County Central Huskies in 2025 - put together one of the most fantastic state championship performances PRZMN will ever see. This scratching, swinging, bar fight of a Class AA thunderdome was led, on both sides of the ball I must add, by Goodhue's [player_tooltip player_id='1580586' first='Ethan' last='O'Reilly'], who personally put on a performance for the ages. Playing on both sides of the ball, O'Reilly was a behemoth of a presence in the ball game, and you can imagine that PRZMN was stoked to see O'Reilly's name on the PRZMN Spring Showcase roster. The young man lived up to the hype, with huge hands and a frame that could add significant weight in the coming years, and his combination of power and quickness, hand usage, and physicality had OL on their heels all afternoon long. Very interested to see how O'Reilly's Summer Camp SZN develops here soon.

After popping off a 4.83 40 and 4.61 shuttle, Aluko was very impressive in drill work, 1v1 box drills vs. LBs, and 1v1 pass-catching scenarios alike, with impressive acceleration and power out of his cuts and the ability to drop his hips and shut down without any wasted movement or effort on his end. I think his build and game, along with limited varsity experience from 2025, project well to prep football production, and we'll be eagerly watching Park of Cottage Grove's 2028 RB Aluko this upcoming fall for some updated tape.

A breakout, noteworthy performance at the recent PRZMN Spring Showcase is going to earn Larson some serious validity in the upcoming 2028 Ranking's Update, which included an awesome performance during testing for the sophomore. 4.73 laser 40, 4.31 shuttle and 8'5 broad highlighted Larson's opening portion of the Showcase, and things got better from there. Larson was one of the smoothest customers of the LB group, and his fluidity was an asset as both a route runner and when working with ball-hand 1v1 in space. Long arms, intentional footwork, and a calm, competitive demeanor was a nasty combination for would-be defenders in Plymouth, and after posting 53 rushes for 489 yards and 8 TDs in 2025 for the 10-1 Crusaders, I think there's an argument to be made that Larson may be one of the more productive backs in MN the next two years.
Wayzata always seems to have linebacker depth and talent on roster any given season, and PRZMN is a fan of 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2168710' first='Luke' last='Freeman'] going into next fall's 6A race to the Prep Bowl. Long, rangy, and seriously quick, Freeman was comfortable in space and squeezing and taking the air out of RBs in 1v1 settings, and his experience in the Big School ranks helped him matchup well with a variety of different RBs in coverage settings. I saw Freeman flash more than a few good reps on Saturday morning in his hometown of Plymouth. Keep an eye out for this young Trojan LB the next two seasons!

Great build on the Prior Lake Laker, who clocked a 4.68 shuttle at 5'9, 210 lbs., with room to grow! Powerful lower body, can drop hips when changing direction, love the build, and was a quick route runner who could create separation at the top of the route. Name to watch out for out of the loaded Lakers roster for 2026.

New name to the PRZMN radar! Melhack represented 6A Rogers High School well, testing impressively, including a 4.91 40 in front of our eyes to kick off testing. Additionally, although his youth flashed throughout indy and 1v1s, so did some noteworthy tools such as speed, footwork, and balance. Solid build as well.

A freshman out of New Hope and Armstrong High School, Broderick Johnson is a new name to PRZMN's radar who caught our attention during drill work of Session 1. Quick, nimble footwork and change of direction ability, and although he was getting used to the new drills, you could tell this kid had some moves in the open field and with the ball in-hand. Armstrong should be excited about this young buck!
