Another day, another top performer nod for Brooklyn Center’s Alpha Meaway. A premier playmaker and RB in Minnesota’s 2028 class, Meaway has been nothing short of electric any and every padded or non-padded visibility point I see from him. Always good to get some promising, laser-verified athletic data behind a prospect who are willing to stand on the table for, and PRZMN was impressed when Meaway produced a 4.81 laser 40, 4.33 shuttle, and 9’1 broad. Looks like someone’s offseason has been productive! Meaway – acting as a front-of-the-line leader and presence in the RB group – was the position group’s unspoken big dog – based on demeanor and play, and he also had the best footwork, smoothly and flawlessly stepping up and cruising through drill work (led by Augsburg coaches) that other RBs were struggling with. Additionally, Meaway was outstanding during 1v1s, with lethal twitch, obvious strategy, intention, and execution as a route runner, and deep speed to boot. Meaway was out there having fun with it, as well as making it look easy, and was an easy choice for a RB MVP nomination and First Team All-Camp from Saturday’s competition.

Meaway has been one of the most electric prospects in the class of 2028, and it’s easy to see why. As a sophomore, he led his team in rushing yards with over 1,100 and 6 TDs, and he finished second in receiving yards with 321 and 5 TDs. He was also a force on the defensive side of the ball, where he tallied 17 total tackles, 1 TFL, 1 FF, 3 INTs, 1 PBU, and 1 blocked kick. He is also widely recognized as one of the best kick/punt returners in the state. His tape validates this hype. Meaway is both incredibly quick and elusive. He’s a problem in open space, routinely proving that he’s incredibly difficult to tackle. He’s also a patient runner who waits for the play to develop. Often, he’s met with defenders at the mesh point, and he doesn’t panic, but instead bounces outside to the nearest open run lane and finds green downfield. Even when Meaway is wrapped up, he can make plays and break tackles. If a team doesn’t provide standout coverage on kicks/punts, he’s liable to break off returns for a massive gain every time. I’m a firm believer that the biggest leap an athlete takes is from their sophomore to their junior year, and I hope that proves true for Meaway.

The top RB in the class of 2028 has been living up to his ever-growing hype with a spectacular sophomore campaign, and he also was able to showcase value in the return game. On 7 punt returns, he had 238 return yards (34 YPR) and a state-high 2 punt return TDs. He also added 163 kick return yards on just 5 returns (32.6 YPR). Meaway is truly on a different level, proving incredibly dangerous with just the ball in his hands, and his game-breaking speed, athleticism, and game-sense has made him into a gem for Brooklyn Center. Meaway may see his stock bump up heading into this next season, and he may even have a chance to earn the spot as the top overall recruit in the class of 2028 heading into this next season.

One of my favorite prospects in the state, regardless of grad class, Meaway showed why he’s a different level of athlete on Friday afternoon at Camden High School. Meaway’s aforementioned punt return TD was the play of the game, both in terms of athletic ability but also in terms of momentum, as his touchdown put a needle in the balloon of the home team’s composure, and put the scoreline further out of reach deep into the second quarter. Additionally, Meaway’s effectiveness and elusiveness in space was outstanding from his tailback spot, especially when he got out on the edge, and he was pulling off big chunks of yardage seemingly at will. Always a fun watch and good to see the 2028 stud better than ever on Friday afternoon.

In his freshman season, Meaway ran for 523 yards and 7 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 8.3 yards per carry, while catching 10 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown. Meaway also impressed during our Combine Series event in April, posting a 4.75 40 yard time, an 8’10” broad jump, and a 6′ wingspan. Meaway is incredibly explosive with the ball in his hands, showing great twitch, vision, and speed running outside the perimeter. Meaway will be a monster leading the way for the Centaurs’ offense going forward.
