A high-motor interior defensive line presence from the 612 and MPLS Camden High School, Gatlin-Thompson has done a good job of sharpening his toolkit of pass-rushing moves this offseason. With a natural leverage advantage, Gatlin-Thompson owns an effective combination of quickness, hand-usage, and the ability to unlock his hips, making him a solid 1v1 matchup in a camp setting. D3s hit him up!

Lemar Gatlin-Thompson might be one of the stoutest DL prospects that participated at our event on Saturday, but he had plenty of success as an underrated stud during the 1-on-1 reps. Gatlin-Thompson’s size and playing-style may better suit him on the edge, but he had some great reps attacking the interior gaps and taking on bigger linemen, utilizing his quick get-off speed and explosive motor to play well beyond his size, while also displaying solid pass-rush moves, with one particular spin move during the session that left me speechless. Gatlin-Thompson should remain to be a vital piece for the Patriots’ defense as he enters his senior season.

Gatlin-Thompson had a solid level of production through 9 games last season, where he brought down 31 total tackles, 7 TFLs, and half a sack. Gatlin-Thompson was primarily an edge rusher last season, where he was able to utilize his agility to burn tackles both across their face and around the edge. He comes off the edge with surprising speed, and he’s been able to disrupt plays in the backfield because of his explosive get-off. I love his motor and the effort that he displays when playing. Although he didn’t find the QB often while pass rushing last year, the pressure that he was able to create expands beyond the stat sheet. That Camden defensive line is returning two studs, and it should cause real problems for offenses next season.
