The thing that jumps immediately on his tape is how well he brings down contested catches. Tight man coverage, triple covered in zone, it doesn’t matter. As long as the ball is thrown Smith’s way, he has a significant chance to come down with it. His concentration when reeling in passes is insane; he makes difficult catches look ridiculously easy. Spinning around mid-route to reel in an underthrown fade, toe-tapping both feet in the back corner of the endzone, Smith can do it all. He isn’t just a possession catch receiver; however, in the open field, Smith can make plenty of defenders miss. He looks like a problem ahead of his senior season.

Smith finished with 411 receiving yards on 28 receptions and 4 TDs. He also ran for 334 yards and 3 rushing TDs, averaging an impressive 10.4 YPC. Smith has some of the best hand-eye coordination I’ve seen from a receiver in the state, which has allowed him to reel in some crazy catches against strong coverage. An excellent deep threat with great hands, Smith doesn’t shy away from contact, and his penchant for physicality also makes him useful as a runner and in run-blocking. Smith should see his stock rise within our rankings heading into his senior campaign.
