was going to come in and tear it up. The Byron Bears’ interior blocker was making it look easy, with balanced, concise footwork, bend in his hips, flexibility for a big, guy, and. the balance + base combination to completely shut down rushers from the interior of the defensive line. Good overall technique, obvious physicality and toughness, strength at the contact point, and coachable and then some. This dude is ready-made for the college level and has earned a well-deserved rankings bump thanks to his Showcase performance in Plymouth.

Edwards has long been solidified as one of the top offensive line prospects in the state, and he’s seeming to get better every time I see him. Touting an impressive 7’10” broad jump and a 4.99 shuttle, his athleticism really shone through last Saturday. He’s a tough out for anyone as a guard, and I really liked the bend that he was able to play with consistently. Low man wins, and that’s a notion that Edwards proved early and often during 1v1s. His footwork was disciplined, and his short choppy steps reinforced his already stout base. I love it when a small-school athlete is not only able to hang with big-school kids but also consistently win reps. Edwards proved to be an elite measuring stick for defensive competition; if you could hang with him, you were able to run with the big dogs. He’s been on a few NSIC visits, and I sense big things coming for the Byron soon-to-be senior.

of Byron. A skillset that I felt was much improved from watching Mason last time in a live eval at camps or at our showcases, was with his footwork. There is certainly more agility coming thru in Mason reps than what I had gotten in recent evals as it also noted in testing, as he was 7.29 in the L-drill and is one that surely showed that he knows how to finish regardless of the drill that’s being ran. Mason’s a 2027 that I am surprised doesn’t have his first offer yet at this point as he was be a stud guard especially in the NSIC that has the blue-collar work ethic you want in your OL room.

has had a strong presence for Byron’s O-line, and he was a big reason why the Bears averaged over 35 PPG offensively. Playing prominently at Left Guard, Edwards can twist and drive defenders backwards, playing with a relentless motor that goes through the whistle. Edwards does a great job scanning the field and picking up on defensive assignments right away to create a gap in the run or to give protection for his QB in the pocket. Edwards will look to help guide the Bears to the state championship in 2026 after an early playoff upset in 2025 brought their year to a heartbreaking end.

If you aren’t already aware, there is some serious momentum coming out of the Byron Bears program right outside of Rochester. Despite the then-upset in the Class 4A, section 1 championship to eventual Class 4A runner-ups Kasson-Mantorville 31-28, Byron still had a strong 2025 campaign, producing a Mr. Football finalist in Mankato State-bound

, as well as 10 (!) college-bound seniors all set to make their mark on the next level. Luckily for Byron, the Bears have a ton of talent ready to step into bigger roles as rising seniors, but success in Minnesota starts in the trenches, and Byron has some exciting pieces, notably the mauler that is

Edwards is also a standout on the wrestling mat, making a nice debut and improvement from the January 22nd to February 5th ranking’s update on The Guillotine, coming in at 6th at 285AA with sections and state right on the horizon. A physical finisher who does a good job of winning at the contact point, Edwards is consistently finding good hand placement, readjusting and loading up his hips, and running his feet until he hears the whistle. He’s a nonstop presence in the run game and a strong kid who can ragdoll and move mass along the LOS against all kinds of DL, including high-level competition. Plus, he shows great mobility that allows him to combo and climb to the second level with efficiency and is a fluid mover with great foot speed and concise small-area quickness and COD ability that makes him an asset as a versatile puller and mover from his LG position. Plus, he’s an All-District selection who allowed zero sacks in 2025. Talk about a baller!

has continued to grind it out on the trenches, guiding Byron to over 200 yards of rushing per game and an undefeated regular season record as they are poised as favorites to win the Class 4A title. Playing at Left Guard, Edwards plays a physical, yet coordinated style of play, showing good balance and flexibility, being able to change direction and recover off missteps quickly, while also using this flexibility to gain leverage and keep defenders outside the pocket. Edwards consistently plays through the whistle, plowing defenders through the dirt, making him an intimidating menace on the line. Edwards will look to cap off a strong run for the Bears with a state championship added to his resume.

A gritty OL hailing from 4A powerhouse Byron, Edwards has been on one this season, clearing the way for the Bears’ ball carriers. Edwards is a powerful IOL, capable of driving defenders off the ball, which is evident on his tape a number of times. He explodes off the LOS, and I love the way he finishes his blocks. This kid is physical and nasty; he wants to put defenders in the dirt at every possible opportunity. He’s got a good first step off the LOS too, and can frequently be seen still blocking 5+ yards downfield. He’s got that wrestler sense of leverage, too, which is very beneficial to his play style.

A varsity heavyweight wrestler and a returning starter for the Bears as a left guard, Edwards has been a rising prospect in the trenches this offseason. As a sophomore starter, Edwards was extremely effective. He fires off the line quickly, sticks with his blocks, and continues to work even if the defender puts a move on. I love the physicality and aggressiveness Edwards plays with, and he always manages to find work downfield. He works well toward the second level while run blocking too. I’m eager to see Edward’s hype continue to rise throughout his junior year.

It was great having a top OL from Minnesota make the trip over to Wauwatosa for the showcase. Mason made the trip worth it too. The 6’1″ 258 lbs sophomore has just under a 6’3″ wingspan. Mason was able to catch my eyes with his short area quickness while being a stout, strong wall between the DL and the QB. I wanted to go to his film to learn more about him and see how it compares to what I saw. It matches really well. Mason plays with explosive power out of his stance. He closes so quickly and has power as soon as he arrives to his target. I think he plays even faster and stronger when the pads come on. Keep an eye on this kid.
