Byron was ridiculously loaded last season. The 2026, 2027, and 2028 classes were stacked with scholarship talents across the board, but their best player may have been somewhat hidden and overshadowed in their sophomore class, though it’s not hard to see the upside.

, the younger brother of 2025 Minnesota Gopher signee Colin Hansen – also a PRZMN Showcase standout – was a tall, lean, but athletic and explosive TE and occasional DE who is looking very much on the path to future B1G signee, just like his older brother. Like with many high-level Minnesotans,

is a standout multi-sporter who comes in at #27 in the PrepHoops 2028 Rankings and runs with MN Fury in the AAU circuit. This past high school season, Hansen tallied 6.3 PPG, 1.0 RPG, .5 APG, helping Byron to an 11-16 record in 2025-26, but the gridirons of Southern Minnesota is where the younger Hansen really shines.
The verified athlete can win vertically as well as in contested catch situations, and PRZMN love the burst and acceleration from a dead stop, consistently running a good block fake in his junior highlights. Hansen boasts a huge catch radius and can reel in receptions fully extended thanks to his soft hands and coordination, and he owns real-deal, big-play ability from the TE position. Hansen demonstrates excellent contact balance and YAC ability for his age and size. The sophomore can step and work through weaker tackle attempts at his lower body while staying upright and runs with physicality and behind his pads, and I love the effort and ability to finish run blocks against varsity upperclassmen opponents. Will run his feet and put you flat on your butt if you aren’t ready. As an inline TE or flexed out in the slot, Hansen got open and even scored on a variety of different routes in 2025, and he’s a smooth, fluid athlete and mover. Some shake at the top of the route and long and dangerous after the catch and with ball in hand. Plus, the sophomore doubles as a bendy 5T with a great get-off who finds, identifies, and eliminates ball carriers in a blink and has significant room to fill in and add weight. The future is very bright for this young Byron Bear.
