manufactured the biggest single hit I saw while evaluating 2027 tape for the update and this ensuing special feature. Heimer opens his tape with an absolutely gigantic hit against Holy Angels, lifting the Stars‘ RB straight off his feet and into the air for a crushing collision stamped on the chest plate and upper body of the running back. Heimer can run through OL and run over QBs, sometimes both in a single rep, and he closes in a blink.
The 200+ lber. completely stamps out RBs at the contact point and goes all-out, balls-to-the-wall into tackles, and he will spin ball carriers down and into the turf with so much force that he’ll bounce their heads off the green blades of “grass” like a basketball. Heimer displays tons of contact balance and a mean stiff-arm as a tailback in Byron’s offense, but he does his best work at LB, where he can cuts down ball carriers with low chop tackles so physical it looks like a explosion on a battlefield out of a movie. Heimer is overall an excellent form tackler, and his ability to square up bigger RBs, drive his feet, and upend the ball carrier with a lift and dump really has gotten college coaches and programs excited about his long-term potential. The younger Heimer will visit either UNI or WIU on April 18th, and stay tuned for moire inevitable recruiting news out of the Byron program and the Heimer household this offseason.

An explosive athlete on both sides of the ball, Heimer is one of the most promising prospects in the class of 2027. On offense last season, Heimer rushed for over 660 yards with 12 TDs, and on defense, he had 35 tackles, 3 fumbles recovered, and a sack. Like his brother, he has a well-built frame and actually possesses many of the same skills. Heimer is a thick power back with great vision and the ability to break arm tackles time and time again. On defense, Heimer is a violent tackler who can rapidly close the distance between himself and the ball carrier. He fights hard through lead blockers and often finds himself in the backfield disrupting the play. Look out for big things from this two-way star in 2025.

If you don’t know by now, the Heimer boys are built different. Not only are Carson (2026) and Jordan (2027) both two-way standouts are starters who put out nothing but good football tape, they both have verified athleticism backing up the film, making me feel very good about both of their projections to the college level. came into this past December’s PrepRedzoneMN Stock-Up Showcase and tore it up, coming in at 6’1, 195 lbs and really showing off some quickness with a 4.4 and 4.26 shuttle, something that shows up well in his sophomore highlights. We’ve also had Heimer clocked with some solid times in the 40 and broad jump, and with so much time left in his prep football career, it’s hard not to get excited about how explosive he could be by the time he’s a senior, and even beyond. With no film as a freshman, Heimer was designated to the Watchlist, but quickly forced his way onto the rankings by carving out a very important role on a loaded Byron roster in 2024. Playing on both sides of the ball, Heimer posted 90 carries for 663 yards (7.4 YPC) and 12 TDs while adding 35 tackles, 3 fumble recoveries, and a sack as a linebacker, earning All-Conference HM mention honors for his effort.
Heimer – as a RB – is a fun blend of speed and power with a nose for the endzone that created impressive production as an underclassman as a big play back who can also win with physicality and break down a defense throughout a game. His long legs and strong lower body help him easily step through weaker tackle attempts at his lower body and he owns exceptional contact balance for a 200 lb. sophomore. Heimer absorbs and stays upright through some serious tackle attempts, including multiple in a single carry, and he demonstrates a mean stiff-arm and the ability to stop on a dime, which combined for some thrilled broken tackles in 2024. The stiff-arm, size, and contact balance were a fun mix on tape, as Heimer made kids go high, where he could easily use his weapon and stab would-be tacklers off of him while maintaining his balance around and up the sideline. His powerful and sudden cuts at the third level of the field and on the perimeter catch the eye and help him see and utilize space in the open field. As a LB, the 200 lber. is a physical presence on defense who can make plays and 1v1 tackles all around the box and behind the LOS with a physical stamp of authority, and he’s strong enough to shock and shed iOL working to the second level. The Byron sophomore is also an aggressive tackle who wins at the contact point and can upend and physically dominate ball carriers 1v1. Lots of varsity reps, big-game moments, TDs, and tackles left in this kid’s football career.

, who is a big reason why Byron is 8-1 and going into the Class 4A, Section 1 Championship on Friday against Kasson-Mantorville. Heimer has recorded 12 TDs so far this year, and uses his long legs and good speed to help him float by defenders like they’re stuck in the mud. He can beat defenses out to the edge, but will also run behind his pads and can get you tough yardage when he lowers his shoulders and throws out a truck stick or two. I also like his contact balance, and he shows some quickness when breaking tackle attempts too. Defensively, Heimer’s a rangy, speedy LB who shoots gaps with pace and can disrupt run plays behind the LOS. He uses his hands to shed blocks and is a strong tackler who created some impressive collisions against RBs in 2024. Eastern Michigan has already noticed Heimer and has a coach following him on Twitter. Can’t wait to get this kid on the rankings!

A 2027 we were very excited to see coming into the season, 6’1, 190 lb. Byron High School linebacker is raising his stock on both sides of the ball thanks to his on-field play and production. 27 carries for 201 yards and 5 TDs, as well as 15 tackles and a sack on defense, Heimer’s long legs help him slip through solid tackle attempts with seeming ease, and he’s got a smooth, weaving run style that is fun to watch and helps him disguise where he is ultimately cutting to. He shows some burst when he hits the hole and can separate and create space when he sticks his cleat in the ground and cuts laterally. Also made some strong 1v1 tackles on defense and possesses good speed, versatility, and physicality. Lot to like with the 2027 Byron Bear.

Sophomore standout Jordan Heimer has been on breakout watch throughout the season, and I dare say he’s on that cusp after a phenomenal performance against Winona during Week 3. Heimer scored twice in key short-yardage situations, and figures to be an important piece of that Bears offense for the next several years.
