is coming a strong junior wrestling season that saw him place 4th at 285AAA in a loaded heavyweight bracket in the big school division. Olson is also one of the best DTs in the state – a premier position on the recruiting trail – and he highlighted some quickness and explosiveness during testing by popping off a 4.56 shuttle and 8’3 broad at 6’2.5″, 236 pounds and counting. Olson was also showing off nonstop, can’t-miss power and a bull rush that was really giving iOL in attendance trouble during 1v1s, and his ability to unlock his hips, push/pull, and win the hand-fighting battle helped him earn hard-fought win after hard-fought win against a loaded OL group. NSICs and MVFCs gotta get this kid to their summer prospect camps ASAP.

stood as one of the toughest and physically exerting D-linemen throughout the session. Olson showed excellent hand-fighting skills, getting first contact often, and proving difficult for blockers to handle. Olson was constantly able to drive blockers backward and was able to gain leverage through both the inside and outside shoulder. Olson’s shows strong fundamentals and a steady base while boasting the competitive tenacity to play at DT, with this performance further fueling Olson’s stock as he enters his senior campaign.

wrestle for the LOADED Ponies‘ wrestling squad a few times throughout his budding career, most recently at The Clash in La Crosse. Ranked 2nd in 285AA at the time of The Guillotine’s January 22nd rankings update, Olson is currently sitting at #5 in the state and does not have another ranked heavyweight in Section 4, paving his way for a chance at a state title.
A rising three-year starter with a decorated athletic resume both on and off the mat, Olson is a 3-4 DT and true NG who is a gap-plugger and beast in the middle of MN 6A defensive line. The 275ish-pounder possesses a strong lower body and the balance to help him eat cut tackles off the snap at the LOS, great base and that can hold a gap, fight, and make tackles through contact, whether that’s an arm tackle or post-shock/shed when he can square up a ball carrier in the hole. Olson displays lead in his hands good play speed for his size, can unlock his hips, and drives his feet and hand fights for optimal hand positioning with success. On the mat, he’s one of the more accomplished on this talented list, placing 5th in Greco and 8th in Freestyle to earn All-American honors in both disciplines this past summer at the esteemed Fargo tournament. Olson is also a 2024-25 state entrant, and the MN #1 tournament heavyweight winner, besting current MN 285 #1 ranked Sawyer Schendel of Milaca 1-0. Can’t wait to see this dude make some noise at the state tourney soon.

A standout wrestler who made the state tournament at heavyweight as a sophomore, Olson has an equal if not bigger upside on the gridiron. The big DT had a fantastic junior year for the Ponies, and he put forth the tape to prove it. He’s got uncommon speed for his size and works relentlessly through defenders. He gives centers and guards headaches with his agility, and can both work down the line to the ball carrier and collapse a gap by himself. He plays low consistently, which is a major contributor to his success as a defensive lineman. This year, he went on gameday visits to North Dakota, Jamestown, and St. John’s. I hope to get to watch him in person during the camp circuit this summer.

Starting on varsity as a sophomore is always a big deal and in the minds of some college coaches and scouts, a prerequisite to being legit. Starting on varsity as an underclassman lineman is even more impressive, and things get ramped up even more if you’re a sophomore lineman starting in the trenches of your state’s highest classification of football. Stillwater’s

did just that, and as a reported 6’3, 280 lbs., he posted 27 tackles, 2 TFls, a sack, and two fumble recoveries for touchdowns along the interior of the 6A Ponies in 2024. Not only that, Olson has been the varsity heavyweight wrestler for Stillwater Area High School‘s top-tier Big School wrestling team since he was an 8th grader, most recently qualifying for state in both the individual and team tournaments, where Stillwater placed 2nd in the team duels. If you have any respect for Minnesota prep wrestling, you gotta be excited about this combination, as wrestlers and linemen are like peanut butter and jelly, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
The NG/3T looks and plays like a boulder in the middle of the Stillwater defense on tape. Olson is a gap-clogging, run-stuffing interior DL who can really disrupt an opponent’s rushing attack. He displays good balance and is able to read and tackle through contact and down blocks along the LOS, and shows a great base that maintains his balance and positioning through multiple blockers when holding his gap in the middle of the LOS. You can see the force in his hands when he locks out and extends his arms through a blocker, and Olson displays good pop at the contact point and solid get-off and pad level for a larger sophomore. Olson can beat and avoid pullers thanks to his first step and quickness, and he gets upfield in a hurry and is controlled and agile enough to make 1v1 tackles in the backfield when presented the opportunity. The 280 lber. is also a strong kid who overwhelms and flattens ball carriers when he gets his weight on them. Big-bodied interior DL are hard to find and one of the premier positions on the recruiting trail, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see this kid get some high-level looks and offers sooner rather than later.
