Week 2 brings some more big-time matchups here in the Charlotte Metro Area. Let's take a look at three of them right here.

Hough (1-0) at Independence (1-0) - This is a rematch of the 2nd round playoff game, which the Huskies dominated last season. However, this year is a new year, and with two talented quarterbacks in [player_tooltip player_id='254550' first='Ethan' last='Royal'] and [player_tooltip player_id='915835' first='Jared' last='Street'], the offenses should be fun to watch here. [player_tooltip player_id='1124842' first='Jayden' last='Jones'] comes off a very impressive game last week, while [player_tooltip player_id='945238' first='Tyran' last='Evans'] will be the offensive player to watch after having a game-altering catch late in the fourth quarter last week, setting up their victory touchdown.

On defense, [player_tooltip player_id='974827' first='LJ' last='Porter'] and [player_tooltip player_id='950969' first='Ryan' last='Peterson'] will have their hands full with the talented Patriot attack, but [player_tooltip player_id='402298' first='Nick' last='Reddish'] and [player_tooltip player_id='771231' first='Dallas' last='Brannon'] will have similar challenges. The big boys up front are talented too, with [player_tooltip player_id='1158293' first='Jarvis' last='Potts'] and [player_tooltip player_id='946623' first='Nori' last='White'] starring for these offensive lines, respectively. I expect the Hough offense to continue to play well, and I'm excited to see if the Patriots defense continues their success, coming off a 2nd half shutout of Gaffney last week.

West Charlotte (0-1) at Monroe (1-0) - These two teams have had some fun matchups recently, and this one shapes up to be a good one as well. The bad part for Monroe, though, is that the Lions are coming off a tough loss to Grimsley, so I expect them to be even more locked in than normal. QB [player_tooltip player_id='1321007' first='Jamouri' last='Nichols'] did all he could last week, accounting for 4 touchdowns. His top target at WR, [player_tooltip player_id='1299433' first='Donte' last='Nicholson'], looks to stack another big game. I think the Lions want to get the ground game going with [player_tooltip player_id='1321034' first='Jaciere' last='Gray'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1607889' first='Emory' last='McClain Jr'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1607843' first='Khalil' last='Hansley-McNair'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1321097' first='Jorquis' last='Broome'] will play an important role up front in getting that done. Defensively, [player_tooltip player_id='1170182' first='Elijah' last='Littlejohn'] and Michael Griffin are coming off strong games and will be the focus of the Monroe offense.

Monroe will look to get QB [player_tooltip player_id='473849' first='Jysen' last='Shepherd'] going more in the passing game to balance the success of the run game led by [player_tooltip player_id='1600177' first='Nymir' last='Kendall']. Bryson SImpkins will be an important piece on both sides of the ball, and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1671944' first='Jeremiah' last='Lindsey'] will have to be ready to have a big game to lead the Redhawks' defense.

Myers Park (1-0) at Weddington (1-0) - Both of these teams played very well in big victories last week. For the Mustangs, RB Josh Falzarano will be a key coming off a 2 TD game - I think the Mustangs' running game looks strong with an improved offensive line behind guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1671988' first='Penn' last='Craver'] and Cooper Helman. [player_tooltip player_id='832280' first='Brody' last='Keefe'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1671887' first='Chaz' last='Portis'] will be big in this one, if QB Ramir Watson can find these two consistently in the passing game, it could give Weddington some problems. Weddington did well in finding WR [player_tooltip player_id='1321106' first='Kelson' last='Tate'], who had a big game last week with over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown. New QB Walker Powell was efficient in throwing for 215 yards, and [player_tooltip player_id='1525230' first='Brody' last='Anson'] paced the rushing attack.

These two defenses are star-studded; I hope [player_tooltip player_id='1002307' first='Rodney' last='Dunham'] plays, because I would love to see what he and [player_tooltip player_id='987160' first='Damaad' last='Lewis'] look like as a pair of dynamic EDGE rushers. Cam Portis starred last week as well with 13 tackles and a forced fumble, while LB [player_tooltip player_id='1751625' first='Hank' last='Thrasher'] stopped the run consistently and had a Pick 6. We know for the Warriors that [player_tooltip player_id='823700' first='Aiden' last='Harris'] and [player_tooltip player_id='951444' first='Andrew' last='Harris'] will be tough, along with [player_tooltip player_id='284098' first='Thomas' last='Davis Jr.'] [player_tooltip player_id='1671933' first='Brenan' last='Schauer'] also stepped up and had a nice game from his linebacker position last week also.
