About Thomas
Expert Analysis

Davis has been near the top of the rankings from the start and not just because of his name. The rising senior is a plus-athlete and it should surprise no one that he looks comfortable anywhere on the defense. He’s played edge, safety, and “big slot” but he’s most comfortable as an off-ball outside linebacker where his sideline-to-sideline speed and ability to diagnose plays thrive. His versatility should make for a smooth transition to college and he could see the field early thanks to a college body and football I.Q.

The son of former NFL linebacker Thomas Davis has continued to progress into an even more dominant player after his junior year for the Warriors. Thomas has become a true 3 down player that can affect the game in multiple ways. Thomas had offers from a ton of different schools but committed to play college football at Norte Dame, and that is a great get for the Irish. Davis flies to the football whether it is in the running game, slamming open windows shut with great natural instincts, or covering backs/tight ends in the passing game or zone coverage over the middle of the field. Easy selection for our Junior Bowl team.

I’ve been really impressed with Davis’ transition from linebacker-safety hybrid to true off-ball linebacker over the last few years. Now, it seems like his transition to a full-time MIKE linebacker is really paying off. He has the speed to get sideline to sideline and has bulked up enough to take on blocks. He’s a natural at finding run fits, which shouldn’t come naturally to most normal people. Davis isn’t normal and should play early and often at the next level.

Our top-ranked linebacker in the state moved up several spots. He’s athletic enough to play safety and strong enough to play on the edge, but he’s settling in nicely at middle linebacker. It has benefitted Davis to have plenty of talent around him because it’s allowed him to learn the nuances of the middle linebacker position rather than simply win on athleticism at the high school level, like he’s capable of doing.

Davis Jr. has done it all defensively for the Warriors this season, playing well against both the run and the pass. The hybrid linebacker-safety already possesses great size and strength and has the speed to get into the backfield as a blitzer. He’s solid in pass coverage and scored on a pick six his last time out.
