Expert Analysis

Elijah flat-out looked like a Power 5 player who just committed to Georgia this weekend in this one. His speed off the edge was dynamite, and he was in on inside zone plays that he had no business making the tackle on from his EDGE position when lined up on the line of scrimmage. Elijah also got to the quarterback multiple times in this one, totaling 1 sack officially, but multiple QB hurries. On top of that, Elijah was the Lions’ leading tackler with 9 total tackles, 6 of them being solo tackles, and 3 total tackles for loss.

Elijah played his usual impressive game, where he was all over the field making tackles for his defense. It seemed like Mallard Creek paid a lot of attention to, rightfully so, in pass protection, so most of Elijah’s impact came in setting the edge and not allowing the Mavericks to get to the outside for big yardage in their offense. The Penn State commit showed he has an all-around defensive game in this one.

The Penn State commit had the only official sack recorded for the Lions, which resulted in a six-yard loss on the play. Elijah showed a nice rush off the edge consistently throughout the game, which also resulted in two tackles for loss. In total, Elijah finished with 10 total tackles, 6 solo tackles, along with the aforementioned tackles for loss and sack. He was a true game-changer and gave Nittany Lions fans a preview of what they’re getting real soon.

Within the last week, Elijah has announced that he has returned to play at West Charlotte High School, which is where Elijah started his high school career previously. Playing in Head Coach Sam’s Greiner attacking defensive scheme should allow Elijah to put up another impressive statistical season. As it stands, Elijah put up 14 sacks as a dominant EDGE player for the Hawks last season, and his speed/power combination on the outside caused a lot of trouble for opposing offenses. Elijah has received some big-time offers from Power 4 schools, and he will be another national recruit out of the Charlotte area who should make waves nationally once he makes his college selection.

Elijah had a strong season for the Hawks, and continued to be a dominant presence as an outside linebacker/EDGE player. On the season, he had 84 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks. Just some incredible production when you consider he was his team’s best defensive player and received the majority of the opposition’s offensive focus. To give you an idea of his recruiting, Elijah was recently offered by Ohio State, so things I would say are going pretty well. Elijah has multiple Power 4 offers as well. I spoke with him after a victory earlier in the season.

Littlejohn started the year at Charlotte Christian but quickly transferred back to West Mecklenburg, where he’s been fantastic on a pretty good defense. He’s playing more off the edge, but for now, we still have him primarily as an off-ball linebacker, where we *think* he’ll play at the college level. It all depends on how his body develops. The athleticism is off the charts and he’ll succeed at any number of positions.

Off the field, Littlejohn has had an eventful year, transferring too Charlotte Christian in the offseason before transferring to West Meck after Week 1. On the field, Littlejohn has excelled as a linebacker-edge rusher hybrid. In just a couple of games, he’s already racked up a couple sacks and several tackles for loss. He’s likely an off-ball linebacker at the next level, but has the ability to get after the passer as well.
