About Hank
Expert Analysis
Matt Morrow | Prep Redzone Scout
Hank was the captain and heartbeat of the Myers Park defense this season, and he left it all on the field in this one for sure. Hank, it seemed, was in on every other play defensively for the Mustangs, and his heart and hustle were something fun to watch for me when I saw him play. Hank earned a Queen City Senior Bowl selection and has committed to play college football on the next level, so I’m excited to see him continue his football career!

The Mustangs have a lot of talent on the defensive line and in the secondary, but Hank is the common thread that ties all of that talent together. He’s a great communicator and leader for their defense, and he shows the ability to stop the interior running game on a consistent basis. He’s a tough competitor, gritty, and a big reason for the Mustangs’ success this season.

Our biggest mover at the linebacker position this cycle, Thrasher is the heartbeat of a veteran Myers Park defense. Thrasher’s reactions have improved tremendously, and when he sees a lane, he’s usually there to close it. He’s gone from a decent player to a true star on the defensive side of the ball for a team with hopes of a deep playoff run.

I have been high on Thrasher, and he played a strong game on Saturday in the middle of his defense. I have several pictures of him in the mix on interior run plays, and the vast majority of the time, he’s shutting them down for minimal yardage. On top of that, Hank was able to get an interception and return it for a touchdown – showing that he can be a true 3-down linebacker this season.

A sideline-to-sideline linebacker, Thrasher had an excellent season for Myers Park, especially against the run. He has the speed and lateral quickness to get out and make tackles outside the numbers and the size to bang around inside against bigger linemen. A late spring offer from Hampden-Sydney kicked off his recruitment.
