The Duke commit had one of the highlight plays of the game, where he won a jump ball in single coverage in the corner of the end zone and had an impressive catch at the high point, making the play go viral on social media. It is evident once again that leaving Keefe in single coverage is a high-risk proposal for defenses.
A true X-receiver on the outside, Keefe has homerun potential in the form of contested catches. He’s a guy who doesn’t have to create a ton of separation to find success as a receiver. That being said, he creates more separation than his physical profile would suggest, especially given his average long speed. His excellent release package and ability after the catch are surprising given his size, and that’s where he can win at the next level.
Brody earning the #1 spot in this ranking really came down to overall production the past two years for the Mustangs. Brody has consistently been the #1 threat for multiple different quarterbacks – last season he caught passes from three different players as Myers Park dealt with some injury issues. In spite of that, Brody remained incredibly athletic and fast, with the ability to attack from any receiver spot on the field. Brody has an incredible vertical ability in 1 on 1 situations and extremely strong hands to pull the ball in consistently. Brody can run excellent routes and knows how to find holes in zone coverage. From a recruiting standpoint, Brody has offers from almost every Power 4 school you can think of. He has narrowed his choices down to 8 schools – Norte Dame, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Duke, Ohio State, and South Carolina.
Brody has been a highly-recruited player for the last couple of years, with offers from a number of Division 1 Power 4 schools. Brody is an easy selection for this Junior Bowl team because he can win against man coverage, especially in the red zone. I have seen Brody on multiple occasions in person high-point the football in the end zone against good defensive backs. Brody has strong hands and the speed to win down the field on deep routes.
Keefe has been unselfish this year as his primary job has been to draw coverage and open up space for his teammates. Chaz PortisChazPortis

has been the primary beneficiary, but Keefe has still put up decent numbers early. He has 11 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown and just missed a long touchdown in the opener after he couldn’t quite get his feet in bounds on a fantastic catch. He continues to high point the ball as well as anyone in the state.
Brody didn’t have a huge game – he totaled 3 catches for 45 yards, but his presence definitely opened things up for his teammate Chaz PortisChazPortis

to have a huge game. Brody almost pulled in a touchdown pass in the first half, but he could not keep his feet inbounds on a 4th down pass from QB Jared LockhartJaredLockhart

. At the end of the game, Lockhart was trying to find him in the back of the end zone when Brody was double-covered and the Patriots were able to get an interception to seal the victory. I’m sure the Mustangs will find some ways to free Brody up in future games, but his talent is always a plus when on the field.
