Expert Analysis

Ramir made some great throws and plays last season and showed a lot of growth as a player after coming over from Rocky River. Obviously, this offseason is huge for him to see if he can build on the growth he showed as a quarterback. He lost some talented teammates, so he also has a chance to step up into a bigger leadership role and take full control of the Mustangs’ offense. Ramir showed me some nice ability to move in the pocket and make some plays on the run, as well as some ability overall as a runner with the ball in his hands.

Ramir Watson Ramir Watson 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Myers Park | 2027 State NC , 6’1″, 170-pound junior quarterback, is the definition of balance at the position. He threw for 1,422 yards and 19 touchdowns through the air while adding 362 rushing yards and 3 more scores on the ground. Watson shows good touch and timing as a passer, capable of spreading the ball around and finishing drives, but he also brings enough mobility to extend plays and pick up key yards when protection breaks down. His frame still has room to fill out, which only adds to his long-term upside. A poised, productive signal-caller whose game continues to trend upward.

Coming into the Mustangs program from Rocky River, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Ramir. However, he won the starting job in the preseason and proceeded to lead the Mustangs to the 3rd round of the state playoffs. Ramir has a strong arm, and he’s not scared of the moment. He stood in and took the heat in some big games and made some impressive throws. I think physically, Ramir has the tools to be a very good quarterback next year. If he’s able to become consistent then he’s going to be one of the best quarterbacks in Charlotte. That being said, he’s plenty good right now for consideration for this 704 Junior Bowl.

Watson won the starting job at Myers Park after an intense offseason battle, and he played well for the Mustangs. It will be interesting to see how he progresses as a senior after he loses three of his top four targets, plus a 1,000-yard rusher. Watson has a strong arm and flashed an impressive deep ball against quality competition.
