Kapanui announced his commitment to San Jose St. after picking up an offer in May and taking an official visit in mid June. He’s one of the top LBs in Nevada’s ’25 class with his promising physical skillset, athleticism, and ability to play in space. Kapanui chose the Spartans over other offers from Hawaii, Northern Arizona, Colorado St., and Portland St.

Kapanui took his first official visit with Hawaii this past weekend. The 6’1”/205 LB has strong ties to the first program to offer him back in 2022 with his dad having played for the Rainbow Warriors back in the early 2000s. Kapanui- who added offers from NAU, Portland St., and San Jose St. in May- has an official visit with San Jose St. scheduled for later this month (June 15-16).

Bishop Gorman’s ‘25 LB is a physical hitter with great range and athleticism in space. Kapanui plans to make his commitment before the end of the summer with Hawaii seemingly the favorite thus far to land the talented LB.

The junior LB has dominated to 7 v. 7 circuit this off-season showing great change of direction and football IQ. Kapanui will be a center piece to the Gaels defense this off-season.

Champ Kapanui Champ Kapanui 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB Bishop Gorman | 2025 State NV had a great season for the national champion Bishop Gorman Football Team off the edge as an outside linebacker. The Hawaii Native is following in the footsteps of his father Chad Kapanui a former standout LB for the University of Hawaii. Champ has shown great agility and explosion off the edge as well as the ability to cover in 7 v 7. Although Champ is playing off the edge the Bishop Gorman LB will see a lot of interest for inside LB at the next level. Champ recently won MVP at the Polynesian Bowl camp and will start attracting power 5 interest by the end of next season.
