Kalaniuvalu committed to BYU after being previously committed to Oregon since the summer. The #3-OL prospect in PRZ NV’s 2025 class is an elite talent along the interior with the potential to develop into a dominant run blocker at the next level. Kalaniuvalu chose the Cougars over 20+ P-4 offers.

The 4-star Oregon commitment is an elite tackle that can seal the edge in pass protection and open up running lanes in outside concepts for the Gaels. Alai can be a star on Saturdays as a tackle or a guard. With Utu and Alai as book end tackles the Gorman QB will be well protected.

Bishop Gorman has 6 linemen in the 2025 with multiple D1 offers. Out of the 6 Alai is said to have the most potential to play on Sundays at the guard position. Alai has perfect length, strength, and speed to play guard at the highest level possible if he continues to develop. Alai is also plays with violent hands that make him hard to get past. Alai has multiple power 5 offers but Nebraska looks to be the favorite and best fit for the prospect with legendary Hawaii Native Donovan Raiola coaching the o-line for the Cornhuskers. Look for Alai to be one of the leaders on the best o-line in the country.

Kalaniuvalu established himself as one of the top OL prospects in the state after transferring from Provo, Utah to Bishop Gorman. He’s a powerful blocker in the run game that beats defenders to the spot with explosive twitch off the ball, moves extremely well up to the second level as a lead blocker, and can play either OT or OG spot. He’s a quick, efficient mover with a strong, athletic frame at 6’4”/300. Kalanuivalu offers some of the highest run-blocking upside of any OL recruit in the country. The state’s #3-ranked prospect has added offers from Colorado and Michigan St. since the start of 2024.

Alai Kalaniuvalu Alai Kalaniuvalu 6'4" | 295 lbs | OL Bishop Gorman | 2025 State NV comes to Bishop Gorman from Utah and looks to hit the ground running in his first year in Las Vegas. Alai holds thirty scholarship offers at my last count. Don’t think he gets lost in the shuffle amongst Bishop Gorman’s talented offensive line. Alai is set to be one of the most dominant juniors in Nevada the minute game one kicks off this fall.
Alai’s rare explosiveness shows getting to the second level and waiting for play side linebackers to get to the point of attack. Good effort, speed, and strength get displayed when Alai knocks out run defenders with one punch in the open field. Alai’s quickness shows getting off the ball as a backside zone blocker, but rare power shows flattening defensive linemen before he gains lateral leverage on them.
