Expert Analysis
Zack Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Coar led Bishop Gorman’s backfield committee in rushing yards with 648 and 5 TDs as a senior. The #6-RB in the class transferred in from Colorado after rushing for over 2,300 yards and 26 TDs during his sophomore and junior seasons at Pine Creek. He’s a strong athlete that possesses the frame to hold up against college-level defenders (5’11″/205). Sees the field and lane development extremely well, can cut and bounce to space around the LOS and runs with consistent center-of-gravity and pad level. Coar’s drawn interest from multiple D-I programs and would be a great late addition for any FCS to D-II program looking to fill out their backfield.
Thank You Lord for a great season. It has been a blessing to be with my coaches and teammates!

Coar put together a strong senior season for Bishop Gorman after transferring in from Colorado over the summer. The 5’11″/205 RB averaged over 11 yards-per-carry this season for a total of 648 yards and 5 TDs on the ground. He’s a skilled athlete out of the backfield that can find and exploit space around the LOS with excellent vision, square shoulders, and active feet. Possesses the strength and balance to bounce off tackles at the first level, shows good acceleration through the lane, and can make defenders miss in space with an effective stiff-arm and quick lateral cuts. Coar has drawn interest from schools like Wagner, Colorado St., and Wyoming and is a strong candidate to pick up his first offer in the near future.

Coar has been a breakout playmaker for Bishop Gorman’s offense since transferring in from Colorado. The 5’11″/205 RB is the Gaels’ leading rusher out of the backfield with over 500 yards and 3 TDs on 49 carries. He’s a balanced runner that possesses the vision to find lanes between the OTs and the speed to bounce to the edge. He attacks the hole with effortless acceleration, has the strength and pad level to bounce off tackles, and flashes his agility making second and third level defenders miss. Coar’s drawn interest from several D-I programs but is yet to see his first offer come in. Look for his recruitment to heat up with a productive playoff run in the coming weeks.

Coar was a player that wanted to show that he has some speed and was able to do that when they transitioned into indy work. He has that quick burst and is able to create separation when he gets into the open field. In drill work he was showing great footwork and ability to hold onto the ball without having to slow down. When he started working against the defense he was able to show off his route running ability and soft hands being able to come down with the ball. His underneath routes looked precise and got the defenders off balance. He had an overall solid day and will continue to pop on more radars moving forward.

Coar stood out to me during the combine portion of the day and continued to impress throughout the event. He has an explosive first step and does a fantastic job controlling his body when changing directions. His overall speed and vision as a ball carrier also helped him stand out during the drills.
Coar is also a dangerous athlete when used as a receiving option coming out of the backfield. Once the ball is in his hands in open spaces, defenses will have a tough time trying to contain him. Coar was another fan favorite at the Prospect Tour who has solidified himself as a must-watch player this fall.

Landing at #2 on this list is Mason Miller Mason Miller 6'3" | 225 lbs | ATH Pine Creek | 2024 State CO back mate Coar. These backs go 1 and 2 because they are both very skilled backs and can be a two-headed monster similar to what Columbine had this year. Coar is a back that is patient and sets up his blocks and hits the hole. Coar has the ability to turn the plays that look bottled up into explosive plays. He is a physical runner with the top end speed to go with it. He has good vision and can cut it back with the speed to be able to pull away from defenders when they get on the same level. Coar is a young back and will have 2 more years to grow making him the back with the most potential on this list. I like the way he sees the field and his feel for the game as well. I would not be surprised to see him ranked as one of the top backs by the end of the year.

Coar will still look to split the backfield next season as he did this year but he is more than capable of making it work. Coar split the backfield this year and was still able to break the 1,000 yard mark which is always impressive. Coar is an explosive back that can run in between the tackles but can bounce it to the outside as well. He is hard to bring down and often takes multiple defenders to bring him down. He has speed and utilizes it when he gets on the perimeter and can make a house call if it turns into a foot race.
