Abella is flying under the radar after putting together a strong junior season in the Bishop Gorman secondary in 2025. He’s an athletic safety/nickel that thrives on the perimeter with his range and ability to play in space. He’s a strong open-field tackler that can track the ball down from any area, shows versatility playing at all three levels, and is a highly instinctive defender with impressive coverage skills. Abella is one of the most underrated DBs in Nevada and a player to keep tabs on this offseason.

Abella was originally brought to the PRZ NV radar as a QB and has started to breakout as a rising DB prospect this offseason. The 6’/170 safety out of Bishop Gorman has shown the physical tools and instincts of a future D-I recruit with potential to develop into one of the top DBs in his class as we get farther down the road. Possesses a strong, athletic frame that should be P-4 worthy as he continues to grow and develop and looks extremely savvy and anticipatory covering the middle of the field. Abella has the makings of a future breakout prospect on the recruiting trail- keep an eye on this under-the-radar S heading into his junior season.

While fully admitting I haven’t been able to see as much of Abella this year, as I have gotten to watch other Quarterbacks, I like what I see in the bit I have seen. Standing 5-foot-11 and 135-pounds, he’s on the smaller/more slender side for a 2027 Quarterback right now. What sticks out to me the most is the poise he plays with. On film, he doesn’t seem to get rattled easily and stays calm when the pocket is collapsing around him. Shows encouraging athleticism and has even returned kicks and punts earlier in his youth career, showing his obvious dual-threat ability. Does a good job of throwing on the run, specifically to the left side of the field, as he is a southpaw. Does a good job of staying on top of the ball throughout his motion, which limits the amount of passes that sail on him. Not ready to declare him a future FBS-level Quarterback just yet, but there is absolutely the potential to continue to grow into that. There’s a lot of juice left to be squeezed in Abella. Keep him on your radar, I know he’s staying on mine.
