Mater Dei defensive lineman Semi Taulanga Semi Taulanga Semi Taulanga 6'1" | 295 lbs | DL Mater Dei | 2025 State CA announced his commitment to Utah last Saturday.

He is a vocal leader of the team and leads the Monarchs in their pregame drills.

Taulanga had 38 tackles, 11.5 for a loss, seven sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery last season.

He was a huge factor in Mater Dei’s win over St. John Bosco in the CIF-SS championship game. His hand fighting is excellent and he knows how to leverage his body against double teams. 247Sports called him one of the most technically sound linemen in the state.

Taulanga had 11 other offers and also took visits to BYU, San Jose State and UCLA. He is the fifth player from California in Utah’s 2025 recruiting class and the fifth defensive lineman.

Mater Dei clas of 2025 defensive lineman Semi Taulanga Semi Taulanga Semi Taulanga 6'1" | 295 lbs | DL Mater Dei | 2025 State CA was offered by Pittsburgh last Tuesday.

Taualanga had 38 tackles with 11.5 for a loss, seven sacks and a forced fumble last season. He had an outstanding game against St. John Bosco for the CIF-SS Division 1 championship.

Pittsburgh is the fifth school to offer Taulanga joining San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV and Washington State.
