Each week I pick and break down seven of the top games in Southern California.

Week two is loaded with great matchups, including three that feature top ranked teams in the nation.

After an excellent week zero, I had a mediocre 4-3 performance last week.

LOS ALAMITOS VS. SERRA

Los Alamitos is off to a 3-0 start and cruised to a blowout win over Narbonne last week. [player_tooltip player_id='1205414' first='Kamden' last='Tillis'], who I liked as a receiver at the National Preps Showcase, is playing well at running back thus far with four touchdowns and five yards per carry. Defensively, [player_tooltip player_id='1598356' first='Lenny' last='Ibarra'] leads the team in tackles and the duo of Jackson Renger and [player_tooltip player_id='1660469' first='Hunter' last='Eligon'] are causing havoc in the backfield. Speaking of getting into the backfield, Serra's [player_tooltip player_id='780328' first='Khary' last='Wilder'] has arguably been the best pass rusher in the Southern Section thus far. [player_tooltip player_id='1717734' first='Dion' last='Edwards'] has played well in the secondary and Joe Bolder is off to a good start. DeVohn Moutra leads the team in rushing but the offense hasn't put up huge numbers because the defense puts them in great field position. Both of these teams are the most challenging opponents either team has faced so far this season.

OAK HILLS VS. RANCHO CUCAMONGA

Rancho Cucamonga was outstanding in the first half last week and was beating Orange Lutheran but was unable to sustain that performance in the second half. [player_tooltip player_id='780268' first='Andre' last='Johnson'] II blocked a field goal and the defense recovered two fumbles. [player_tooltip player_id='1000930' first='Jacob' last='Chambers'] is a dual threat quarterback who is tough to game plan against. Oak Hills is climbing up the state rankings after dominating Bishop Amat last week. [player_tooltip player_id='1686199' first='Jacob' last='Webster'] threw three touchdown passes and Christopher Martin ran for 156 yards with a score. [player_tooltip player_id='292489' first='JuJu' last='Parm'] is a deep threat receiver for Oak Hills. [player_tooltip player_id='877001' first='Sione' last='Felila'] had two sacks and is one of the best defensive linemen in the Section.

ORANGE LUTHERAN VS. BASHA

Orange Lutheran needed a second half rally to beat Rancho Cucamonga last week. [player_tooltip player_id='1197615' first='Reagan' last='Toki'] threw four touchdown passes including a deep one to [player_tooltip player_id='1197219' first='Chris' last='Flores'] Jr. [player_tooltip player_id='1328964' first='Jackson' last='Perez'] led Orange Lutheran's defense with a big interception and [player_tooltip player_id='780311' first='Auma' last='Jennings'] had three sacks. [player_tooltip player_id='992795' first='Joshua' last='Gaines'] ran the ball well for Basha in a win over Brophy Prep last week. [player_tooltip player_id='734768' first='Marc' last='Duerson'] led Basha in tackles with 13 and [player_tooltip player_id='401160' first='Eli' last='Cramer-Cronin'] had 1.5 sacks. [player_tooltip player_id='1369435' first='Kaden' last='Williams'] and [player_tooltip player_id='884141' first='Kyser' last='Wilson'] each had interceptions. Basha is the No. 2 ranked team in Arizona and Orange Lutheran is top 10 in the state in California. If the Orange Lutheran team from the second half of the Rancho Cucamonga game shows up, they should win this.

CAPISTRANO VALLEY VS. CREAN LUTHERAN

Capo Valley overcame too many turnovers last week to beat Campo Verde of Arizona. [player_tooltip player_id='1197373' first='Talon' last='Spencer'] is a very good athlete at quarterback who is capable of big games with his arm and legs. Brody Saavedra has been a top target of Spencer's so far with tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1279271' first='Colin' last='Hooper']. [player_tooltip player_id='1269651' first='Damon' last='Epstein'] had a school-record five sacks last week and leads the defense. Crean Lutheran has been dominant in its two games this season. [player_tooltip player_id='1197336' first='Caden' last='Jones'] has been excellent at quarterback and [player_tooltip player_id='1598347' first='Bryce' last='Coleman'] had 203 yards receiving with three touchdowns last week. [player_tooltip player_id='1698564' first='Javari' last='Nash'] had 12 tackles and [player_tooltip player_id='1203247' first='Anthony' last=''] Jones is a matchup nightmare on the defensive line. Another fun wrinkle in this game is the father/son matchup between the two head coaches.

CHAMINADE VS. SERVITE

Chaminade's week zero win over Oaks Christian doesn't look as good now as it did in the moment. The Eagles struggled last week in a loss to Valencia. [player_tooltip player_id='1611412' first='Cameron' last='Pooley'] had some big plays at quarterback last week but had some accuracy issues. [player_tooltip player_id='1698902' first='Marquis' last='Jones'] is averaging over 100 yards rushing per game and Beau Lindus leads the receiving corps. Michael Bonnet has four sacks for Chaminade's defense. Servite's offense clicked last week in a high-scoring win over Murrieta Valley. [player_tooltip player_id='1717982' first='Kalé' last='Murphy'] threw four touchdown passes and the track guys, [player_tooltip player_id='1695404' first='Kamil' last='Pelovello'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1698851' first='Benjamin' last='Harris'], made big plays at receiver. Gavin Gutierrez ran for 163 yards with a touchdown. The Friars' defense forced five turnovers.

ST. FRANCES ACADEMY VS. ST. JOHN BOSCO

This is the first matchup of the season between two top 10 teams in the nation. [player_tooltip player_id='959174' first='Koa' last='Malau'ulu'] has thrown six touchdowns for St. John Bosco and [player_tooltip player_id='408739' first='Darren' last='Tubbs Jr']. leads the team in receiving with [player_tooltip player_id='209113' first='Madden' last='Williams'] and [player_tooltip player_id='283605' first='Daniel' last='Odom']. Bosco's linebackers have been excellent thus far. [player_tooltip player_id='1197597' first='Josiah' last='Poyer'] leads the team in sacks and [player_tooltip player_id='1199093' first='Ahmeer' last='Williamson'] leads the team in tackles. [player_tooltip player_id='1382563' first='Dillon' last='Davis'] has an interception and [player_tooltip player_id='415359' first='Jailen' last='Hill'] had a circus catch on an interception. St. Frances loves to run the ball and Sa'Nir Brooks had a big game last week. Jesse Legree had two touchdown receptions and Jae'Oyn Williams is a dual threat quarterback. The defense is loaded with top prospects like Alabama commit Jireh Edwards and Maryland commit Khmari Bing.

For an in-depth preview of this game, check out my story here. The game features two Power 4 commit quarterbacks and playmaking receivers for both teams. Neither team runs the ball much and we can expect an air show on Friday.
