Spencer completed 11 of 14 passes for 146 yards with a touchdown and ran for 62 yards with three rushing touchdowns for Capo Valley in a 55-6 win over Damien of Hawaii. He had to work with a lot of short fields due to Capo Valley’s defense forcing a ton of turnovers and only played in the first half due to the lopsided score.

He goes through his progressions well and you have to cover everyone closely when playing against Spencer. Spencer has plus arm strength and has good timing with the receivers despite not playing much in the offseason 7-on-7 circuit. Spencer is committed to Cal for baseball and is an excellent athlete who can hurt defenses on QB draws.

Spencer was spreading the ball around well again on Saturday and hitting his receivers in stride. He gets the ball out on time and goes through his progressions quickly. Spencer has developed well as an off-platform thrower and his athleticism will be a huge asset for Capo this season when it moves up to a much more challenging league.

Spencer showed great timing with his receivers and throws very well on the run. He’s a baseball player who missed a lot of Capo’s 7-on-7 stuff during the spring but you couldn’t tell when you watched his chemistry with the receivers on Saturday. Spencer had great ball placement throughout the day and didn’t make many mistakes.

He makes quick decisions but also goes through his progressions and often hits the third read on the play. As a passer, he drops to his spot in the pocket quickly and makes good decisions with the ball. He has the arm strength to deliver strikes on the short and intermediate throws with good timing. Spencer can evade pressure in the pocket and get up the field quickly as a scrambler. He is also effective on QB draws and power/reads. Spencer is committed to Cal for baseball.

Spencer is a really good athlete who led Capo Valley in receiving last season but draws attention from colleges as a quarterback.

He has a very good arm and can fit the ball into tight windows. Spencer goes through his progressions well and can extend plays with his legs. He appears to be finally getting the reins as the team’s starting quarterback and should have a big year.
