Epstein is another player who exploded in one game with an impressive showing. The Capistrano Valley defensive end shined in his team’s win over Campo Verde in Week 1. He collected nine tackles in the game and all of them went for a loss. That included five sacks putting him among the best in the state in that category. Epstein’s speed is his best quality and he uses it well to get around the edge and in the backfield.

Epstein had 33 tackles, seven for a loss, seven sacks and 11 hurries for Capo Valley last season.
He is a read-and-react defensive lineman who isn’t explosive off the ball but has other qualities that make him challenging to block. Epstein does a good job getting his arms extended against offensive linemen and is a good hand fighter. He sheds blocks at the line of scrimmage well and is an effective tackler.

Epstein operates from the edge position for Capistrano Valley and is a effective pass rusher from the outside with both speed and power moves in his toolbox. He has a quick first step while gaining immediate ground and gets his hands on blocker’s quickly with a consistent lockout and inside punch. He shows tremendous pursuit to the ball backside and can redirect quickly in open space/is very fundamentally sound both against the pass and run. He has a frame to continue packing on weight through his senior season in collegiate career and should draw plenty of D3+ interest through the summer and into his final prep season.
