Enjoy!

Happy New Year! We're kicking off 2024 by taking a look back at the very best players during the 2023 football season! It's All State week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma. Starting today and over the next several days, we'll have posts every day with our All State selections. Today, we unveil our All State first team selections. On Tuesday, we'll have the second team picks. On Wednesday, we'll have our third team selections and then on Thursday, we'll have our All State Honorable Mentions.

Our All State first team is headlined by state champions Bixby and Carl Albert, who lead the way with three first team selections each. Edmond Santa Fe, Jenks, Norman North and Union each have two first team selections. The Norman North selections are memorable ones as they feature two brothers, who each have earned first team All State honors. Seven of today's first team selections this year also earned first team honors a year ago. We had one player today that was a second team pick last year. And one player today that was a third team pick last year.

Now, the difficult part of the All State process. Only six of our ten PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year finalists are featured on the first team. We had five finalists who were quarterbacks with only one spot available on the first team. All State selections were decided based on a number of factors. Nominations from the head coach, nominations from other coaches, individual numbers, team success and overall impact on the game.

Without further ado, here are our selections for the 2023 All State 1st Team!

OFFENSE

QB - [player_tooltip player_id='207182' first='Andy' last='Bass'] - Senior - Heritage Hall (Player Of The Year Finalist)

Heritage Hall senior and Oklahoma signee [player_tooltip player_id='207182' first='Andy' last='Bass'] had a season to remember in 2023. With over 3,100 passing yards and 35 touchdowns and nearly 1,500 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns, Bass was unstoppable. The moment he stepped on the field this season, he was one of the best players in Oklahoma.

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='188013' first='Demarius' last='Robinson'] - Junior - Edmond Santa Fe (Player Of The Year Finalist)

Edmond Santa Fe junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='188013' first='Demarius' last='Robinson'] was one of the best running backs in the state this year. With well over 2,000 yards and 28 touchdowns, Robinson was dangerous every time he touched the ball. Robinson was a big reason why Santa Fe went from 1-9 in 2022 to 7-4 in 2023.

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='215207' first='Holden' last='Thompson'] - Senior - Stillwater

Stillwater senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='215207' first='Holden' last='Thompson'] was our 2023 PRZ-Oklahoma Comeback Player Of The Year. After missing 2022, Thompson came back with a vengeance as one of the best running backs in the state. He was a workhorse back with nearly 2,200 yards and 23 touchdowns on the season.

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='360239' first='Xavier' last='Robinson'] - Senior - Carl Albert (Player Of The Year Finalist)

Carl Albert senior and Oklahoma signee [player_tooltip player_id='360239' first='Xavier' last='Robinson'] is an All State first team selection for the second straight year. Robinson was once again one of the best players in the state this fall. Robinson ran for nearly 1,800 yards and 34 touchdowns as the Titans went 14-0 with a second straight title.

WR - [player_tooltip player_id='353415' first='Elijah' last='Thomas'] - Junior - Checotah

Checotah junior and Oklahoma commit [player_tooltip player_id='353415' first='Elijah' last='Thomas'] was one of the more electric playmakers in the state. He had 15 receiving touchdowns but also scored touchdowns as a passer, rusher, kick returner, punt returner and he took an interception back. Thomas was a game changer with the ball in his hands.

WR - [player_tooltip player_id='584313' first='Gage' last='Deckard'] - Senior - Claremore

Claremore senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='584313' first='Gage' last='Deckard'] was an absolute star this season. He finished the year with nearly 1,400 yards and 20 touchdowns. Deckard and the Claremore offense was explosive all year and the Zebras had a season to remember, making it all the way to the Class 5A semifinals.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='194066' first='Brody' last='Duffel'] - Senior - Bixby

Bixby senior and Tulsa signee [player_tooltip player_id='194066' first='Brody' last='Duffel'] has earned All State first team honors for the second straight year. Duffel has been one of the top linemen in the state for a while now. The 2023 Spartans might have the best offensive line unit in the state and Duffel is the best of a loaded bunch.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='216585' first='Harrison' last='Utley'] - Senior - Norman North

Like Duffel, Norman North senior offensive lineman and Kansas signee [player_tooltip player_id='216585' first='Harrison' last='Utley'] is an All State first team selection for the second straight year. Utley has been at or near the top of the state's 2024 offensive lineman rankings for the better part of the last two years and he backed it up this fall.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='211568' first='Jesse' last='Jones'] - Junior - Union

Union junior offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='211568' first='Jesse' last='Jones'] might be the most versatile offensive lineman on this breakdown. Jones has lined up at every position along the offensive line and excelled. Jones is a prototypical interior offensive lineman for the next level and his best football continues to be ahead of him.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='611319' first='Josh' last='Aisosa'] - Senior - Edmond Santa Fe

With a 2,000 yard rusher, it was clear that Edmond Santa Fe's offensive line was getting the job done. Senior and Oklahoma signee [player_tooltip player_id='611319' first='Josh' last='Aisosa'] helped pave the way for a massive bounce back season for the Wolves. Edmond Santa Fe had one of the best rushing attacks and Aisosa led the way.

OL - [player_tooltip player_id='360246' first='Wesley' last='Harvey'] - Senior - Muskogee

Muskogee senior offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='360246' first='Wesley' last='Harvey'] led a Rougher offensive line that was one of the best in the state. Harvey and the Roughers accomplished the ultimate goal of bringing a state championship to Muskogee for the first time in nearly four decades. A month later and they're still celebrating.

DEFENSE

DL - [player_tooltip player_id='294262' first='Alex' last='Shieldnight'] - Junior - Wagoner

Wagoner junior defensive lineman and Oklahoma commit [player_tooltip player_id='294262' first='Alex' last='Shieldnight'] is an All State first team selection for the second straight year. This season, Shieldnight finished with 83 tackles and 13 sacks. During the regular season, Shieldnight set the school's career record for sacks and he's just a junior.

DL - [player_tooltip player_id='268325' first='Garrison' last='Utley'] - Junior - Norman North

Norman North junior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='268325' first='Garrison' last='Utley'] joins brother Harrison on the All State first team. Utley was one of the more disruptive players along the defensive line this season. In his first season playing defense, Utley finished the year with over 70 tackles and 15 sacks and the future is bright.

DL - [player_tooltip player_id='191607' first='Hudson' last='Ball'] - Junior - Jenks

Jenks junior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='191607' first='Hudson' last='Ball'] was an absolute nightmare for opponents to deal with this season. Ball had nearly 100 tackles on the season to go along with 14 sacks. Ball also took the crown for the hardest hitter we saw in person this season. Ball is going to be a scary player to watch in 2024.

LB - [player_tooltip player_id='353419' first='Caden' last='Davis'] - Junior - Carl Albert

Carl Albert junior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='353419' first='Caden' last='Davis'] is an All State first team selection for the second straight year. After 22 sacks on the defensive line in 2022, Davis moved to linebacker and led the team in tackles with 185 on the year and 12 sacks. Davis continues to be an incredibly disruptive force on defense.

LB - [player_tooltip player_id='215197' first='Cannon' last='Wood'] - Senior - Piedmont

Piedmont senior [player_tooltip player_id='215197' first='Cannon' last='Wood'] has earned All State first team honors for the second straight year. Wood was once again one of the top two-way players in the state with well over 100 tackles on defense and he also had over 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns on offense. Wood has been an absolute beast.

LB - [player_tooltip player_id='519610' first='Hank' last='Puckett'] - Senior - Bixby

Bixby senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='519610' first='Hank' last='Puckett'] came into this season as one of the state's best linebackers and he played like it throughout the 2023 season. From the first game of the year, Puckett was clearly one of the best players at his position. He led the Spartans in tackles and tackles for loss this season.

LB - [player_tooltip player_id='110751' first='Jett' last='Calmus'] - Senior - Jenks

Jenks senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='110751' first='Jett' last='Calmus'] came back in 2023 after a season-ending injury in 2022. Calmus led the Trojan defense in tackles with 134 on the year. He was also playing some of his best football against the toughest competition. Calmus is without a doubt one of the best linebackers in Oklahoma.

DB - [player_tooltip player_id='215196' first='Dax' last='Collins'] - Senior - Poteau

Poteau senior and Tulsa signee [player_tooltip player_id='215196' first='Dax' last='Collins'] made history as the school's first D1 signee in nearly three decades. Collins had another spectacular season as one of the best overall players in all three phases of the game. Collins was a ballhawk and helped lead a defensive unit that was one of the best in 4A.

DB - [player_tooltip player_id='595764' first='Dax' last='Noles'] - Senior - Norman

Norman senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='595764' first='Dax' last='Noles'] was one of the more underrated players in the state this season. Noles finished 134 tackles and five interceptions on the season. Noles would turn around and be arguably their best player on the offensive side of the ball and he also returned kicks on special teams.

DB - [player_tooltip player_id='110740' first='Issac' last='Covington'] - Senior - Union

Union senior [player_tooltip player_id='110740' first='Issac' last='Covington'] is another example of a complete football player. It didn't matter where Covington lined up on the football field, he had a massive impact. On defense, Covington turned into one of the leaders of a very talented Union secondary and was also a standout on offense at times.

DB - [player_tooltip player_id='1041938' first='Jordan' last='Warrior'] - Senior - Putnam City West

Putnam City West senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='1041938' first='Jordan' last='Warrior'] is right there with some of the other stars that provided an impact in all three phases of the game. On defense specifically, Warrior was an absolute ball hawk. He finished his senior season with eight interceptions and he scored a pair of defensive touchdowns.

KICKER/ATHLETES

K - [player_tooltip player_id='360240' first='Liam' last='Evans'] - Senior - Moore

Moore senior and Oklahoma signee [player_tooltip player_id='360240' first='Liam' last='Evans'] came into this season as the state's best kicker and he's leaving as just that. After earning All State third team honors last season, there was no question that Evans was the best kicker in the state this fall. He was an absolute weapon for the Lions in special teams.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='386581' first='Jaxon' last='Woods'] - Senior - Hominy (Player Of The Year Finalist)

Hominy senior [player_tooltip player_id='386581' first='Jaxon' last='Woods'] is an All State first team selection for the second straight year after taking his game to another level this season. Woods threw for over 2,700 yards and 31 touchdowns while running for nearly 1,300 yards and 24 touchdowns. He was also big on defense and special teams.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='930749' first='Kaden' last='Manuel'] - Senior - Seiling

Seiling senior [player_tooltip player_id='930749' first='Kaden' last='Manuel'] came into this season on a mission to lead his team to a state championship. He did just that and was one of the best players in the state. He was an absolute beast on both sides of the ball all seasons as the Wildcats captured a gold ball and were perfect on the season.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='110743' first='Kordell' last='Gouldsby'] - Senior - Bixby (Player Of The Year Finalist)

Bixby senior [player_tooltip player_id='110743' first='Kordell' last='Gouldsby'] was the best overall player on the state's best team this season. Gouldsby was an absolute star in every aspect of the game. Whether it was offense, defense or special teams, Gouldsby was routinely the best player on the field as the Spartans captured another gold ball.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='215200' first='Ladainian' last='Fields'] - Senior - Del City (Player Of The Year Finalist)

Del City senior and Oklahoma State signee [player_tooltip player_id='215200' first='Ladainian' last='Fields'] has been one of the state's best players for a while now. This fall, he put it all together. He was one of the state's best wide receivers, defensive backs and kick returners, all rolled into one player. Fields was truly dynamic this season.

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='598824' first='Trystan' last='Haynes'] - Junior - Carl Albert

You can make the argument that Carl Albert junior [player_tooltip player_id='598824' first='Trystan' last='Haynes'] was the most important player on Carl Albert's title team. He was the team's leading receiver on offense, a shut down player on defense and also their best kick returner in special teams. He was a true game changer in all three phases.
