Wagoner standout and Oklahoma commit Alex Shieldnight Alex Shieldnight 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Wagoner | 2025 State OK is another prospect in the state’s 2025 class that has been a star for a long time now. As a freshman, Wagoner head coach Dale Condict pointed out Shieldnight as a player that could be one of the best that has come through his historic program. And three years later, he was absolutely spot on. As a junior in 2023, Shieldnight would become the school’s all time sack leader and he has continued to put that record at a mark that is going to be incredibly tough to touch moving forward. Unfortunately, Shieldnight’s senior season came to an end just a few weeks ago when he suffered a season-ending leg injury. Despite the leg injury, Shieldnight is still one of the top prospects in the state.

The players to watch are in alphabetical order but when you’re talking about Wagoner’s standouts, it’s hard not to start the conversation right here. Senior Alex Shieldnight Alex Shieldnight 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Wagoner | 2025 State OK has been one of the best players in Class 4A football and in the state over the last two seasons. He’s already shattered the Wagoner school record for sacks and will be attempting to put it at a number that’s never touched by the time his career is over. Shieldnight committed to OU and is an absolute nightmare for opposing offensive linemen. And don’t overlook what Shieldnight can do on offense. He’s a talented tight end that has shown steady improvement over the last two years.

Wagoner standout Alex Shieldnight Alex Shieldnight 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Wagoner | 2025 State OK is another prospect in this 2025 class that has had a stranglehold on the top spot for his position. It hasn’t mattered if it was at linebacker or defensive line, Shieldnight has been one of the top guys in the state for a long time now. He emerged early on in his career and has rewritten the record books at Wagoner. One thing that really separates Shieldnight from other guys in the state is his unwavering desire to get better. Shieldnight is always working at his craft and that also includes what he does on offense. His future is on defense but he still puts plenty of time in on the offensive side of the ball. He is always working to get better and improve.

Wagoner star Alex Shieldnight Alex Shieldnight 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Wagoner | 2025 State OK is another example of a prospect that has been on our radar for a while now. Head coach Dale Condict was not shy about what he thought about Shieldnight early on in his career and is even more vocal now. He thinks that he could be the best prospect he’s ever coached and that’s saying something. Shieldnight already holds the school record for career sacks and he’s going to put that number at a spot that may never be reached. During his junior season, Shieldnight committed to Oklahoma and the Sooners landed a prospect that they’ve been high on for a while now. Shieldnight is an absolute monster coming off the edge and whether he’s lining up as a traditional edge rusher or somewhere else, he makes an impact.
