was on the very short list of best football player in the state last season. After moving from Southeast to Del City, Fields finished off his high school career as one of the state’s very best two-way players. Fields emerged as a sophomore at Southeast where he was one of the better young receivers in the state. As a junior, Fields became an absolute ball hawk and impressed us with his defensive abilities. And then finally this year, Fields put it all together with offense, defense and even sprinkle in special teams. He’s a special player and headed to Oklahoma State.

has been considered one of the better players in the state since a breakout sophomore season in 2021. But this season, Fields checked every single box and was one of the more dominant players in the state in all three phases of the game. On offense, Fields was the leading wide receiver of a high-powered offense. He finished with over 1,400 yards and 20 touchdowns on 72 catches. On defense, the Eagles were dominant as well and Fields finished the year with 85 tackles and eight interceptions, four of which he took back for scores. Fields also was Del City’s top threats in the return game and he had four punt returns for scores. He was a complete player and the most dominant player on the field at all times. Any time Fields had the ball in his hands, he was a threat to score and it didn’t matter if it was offense, defense or special teams. Fields helped lead the Eagles to a memorable season that ended in the title game.Access all of Prep Redzone

was the best player in Class 5A football this season. And similar to what we said yesterday in our 6A-2 Review, it doesn’t matter what metric you use, Fields was at the top. He absolutely dominated all three phases of the game. He was one of the state’s best wide receivers, a ball hawk in the secondary and a threat to return any kick he got his hands on. He showed up in a big way in their biggest games, notably the semifinal win followed by his performance in the state title game. Fields has been a true game changer for a few years now, but in different areas of the game. It feels like he put everything together this season and was one of the best overall football players in the state. No matter where he was on the field, you saw the impact.

at the wide receiver and defensive back position. Fields is a TCU commit and he has really emerged as one of the top players in the state this fall. He’s been a two-way star for the last several seasons but he’s taken his game to new heights this season. On offense, he is hands down the top target in the passing game. He has nearly 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns and he’s coming off a semifinal performance with 200 yards and three touchdowns. Watching Fields against the Carl Albert secondary is the marquee match-up.

Like Carl Albert, Del City has a few players that could fit this role but we’re putting the spotlight here on senior and TCU commit

after the season he’s had. First, on offense, Fields is one of the best wide receivers in the state. He backed that up once again in their semifinal win over Claremore where he could not be stopped. On defense, Fields has been one of the better ball hawks in Class 5A football for three seasons now. And with Carl Albert having some terrific wide receivers and defensive backs, the competition with Fields and those guys will be must watch football.

is another example of a player that can absolutely take over a game because of his impact in all three phases. On offense, Fields is one of the best wide receivers in the state, not just in Class 5A. On defense, Fields is a ball hawk of a defensive back. And in special teams, Fields has been one of the best punt returners in Class 5A this season. We’ve mentioned quite a bit this season how Del City has one of, if not the best offensive trios in the state and Fields is a big part of that. But he brings so much more to the table which makes him nearly impossible to contain.

is the other Eagle within the top ten of our recent 2024 update. Just like Rodney, Ladainian was an absolute star at Southeast and he emerged as an absolute star while he was there. And just like Rodney, he’s reached new heights this season at Del City and he has the Eagles in contention for the 5A state championship. We moved Fields to the “athlete” position in this latest update because of his ability to be one of the best wide receivers and defensive backs in the state. He was added to our PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year watchlist earlier this season and shows no signs of slowing down. On offense, Fields has been the leading receiver and he’s still a ball hawk on defense. But Fields is also a threat in the return game for the Eagles.

as Player Of The Year watchlist athletes this week. And just like Collins, Fields has been one of the best two-way players in Class 5A for several years now. This season, the TCU commit has been one of the top receivers in the state. Coming into this week’s game, Fields has 36 catches for nearly 750 yards and 12 touchdowns. On defense, he also has 25 tackles, an interception and has recovered a fumble. Then you look at Fields in the special teams department and he has taken three punts back for touchdowns. Now, Fields and the Eagles shift their attention to a big week nine road game against Coweta.

Class 5A is an absolute gauntlet this season with six teams still having perfect records. #2 Del City is one of them and they are coming off arguably their toughest stretch of the district slate. They got back to back wins on the road over ranked teams in McAlester and Sapulpa. They have a showdown with Coweta on the road coming in week nine but they host Memorial on Friday night. Senior wide receiver and TCU commit

has been one of the best wide receivers and overall playmakers in Class 5A this season. Fields has four games of at least 100 yards receiving in their last five games and has found the end zone in each game during that stretch. Fields is also a massive threat in the return game and he turns around and is one of Del City’s best defensive backs. Fields has been one of the top playmakers in Class 5A for a while now and he’s playing like it again.

and he might be the team’s best two-way player. Fields, a TCU commit, has been one of the state’s best two-way players when it comes to the 2024 class for a few years now. He first got on our radar as a game-changing wide receiver and he’s leading the Eagles in receiving this season. But last year, he was outstanding in the secondary and this fall, he’s been a complete player in all three phases as he’s had success in the return game in special teams. Fields is a truly dynamic weapon with the ball in his hands and can impact the game in so many ways.
