Happy New Year! We’re kicking off 2024 by taking a look back at the very best players during the 2023 football season! It’s All State week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma. Starting today and over the next several days, we’ll have posts every day with our All State selections. Today, we unveil our All State first team selections. On Tuesday, we’ll have the second team picks. On Wednesday, we’ll have our third team selections and then on Thursday, we’ll have our All State Honorable Mentions.
Our All State first team is headlined by state champions Bixby and Carl Albert, who lead the way with three first team selections each. Edmond Santa Fe, Jenks, Norman North and Union each have two first team selections. The Norman North selections are memorable ones as they feature two brothers, who each have earned first team All State honors. Seven of today’s first team selections this year also earned first team honors a year ago. We had one player today that was a second team pick last year. And one player today that was a third team pick last year.
Now, the difficult part of the All State process. Only six of our ten PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year finalists are featured on the first team. We had five finalists who were quarterbacks with only one spot available on the first team. All State selections were decided based on a number of factors. Nominations from the head coach, nominations from other coaches, individual numbers, team success and overall impact on the game.
Without further ado, here are our selections for the 2023 All State 1st Team!
