We’ve mentioned this a few times this season, but it deserves repeating here. Claremore senior wide receiver

has been one of the absolute best wide receivers in the state. Deckard has put up some monster numbers throughout the year but we also got a chance to see the impact he can have on the game in person earlier this year. Deckard is a 2024 prospect that should definitely garner some attention in the next two months from colleges because he can play at a high level. Seeing Deckard go up against a very talented and athletic Del City secondary will be something to watch on Friday.

has had throughout the year. Deckard has been not only one of the best wide receivers in Class 5A, he’s been one of the best wide receivers in the state and the one chance we got to see Claremore this season, he had a massive impact in their district title showdown with Bishop Kelley. And he impacted both sides of the ball. We mentioned this last week during our 2024 breakdowns but we were told before the season that Deckard was that guy and he’s proved it this fall.

Earlier this week, we updated our 2024 prospect rankings and one of the top newcomers to the rankings was Claremore wide receiver

and he’s been one of the top overall players this season. Deckard has put up some monster numbers at the wide receiver position. So far this season, he has over 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns and is near the top of the state when it comes to touchdown receptions this season. In our article breaking down some of the top newcomers, we mentioned how Deckard was a player that we were told about earlier this year at our first ever 7v7 tournament. We were told that weekend that he was a player and he has certainly showed that so far this season. Two weeks ago, we got a chance to see Deckard and the Zebras in person and Deckard immediately passed the eye test. Not only was he making plays on the offensive side of the ball but he also came down with an interception on defense. Claremore is in the middle of their best season in recent memory. Deckard is a big reason behind that and has become one of the top overall playmakers in Class 5A.

is one of the breakout stars of this season and we got a chance to see him in person back at our 7v7 tournament in February. We were told that he was going to emerge as one of the state’s best wide receivers this offseason and he’s lived up to the hype. Deckard is one of the state’s leading receivers with over 1,000 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns on the season. Earlier this month, we were at Bishop Kelley as the Comets hosted Deckard and the Zebras and we saw the speed first hand. Deckard has also made plays this season, including in that game on the defensive side of the ball. When Deckard gets into the open field, that speed is very impressive to watch. As the Zebras start preparing for the playoffs, Deckard is going to be one of the top players to watch in the 5A playoffs and his recruitment should take off.

Before the season began, we thought that Claremore had the potential to be a team to watch in Class 5A this fall but we still didn’t expect this. The Zebras are 7-0 for the first time in decades and they have jumped up into the top five of our Class 5A rankings at #5 this week. Leading the way is their passing attack and senior wide receiver

has emerged as one of the best wide receivers in Class 5A this fall. The Zebras will look to remain unbeaten this week when they travel to Tulsa on Friday to face Bishop Kelley. These are the top two teams in the district right now and the Comets have won five in a row after starting 0-2. Deckard has put up some monster numbers with nearly 1,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. If he has another stellar performance, Claremore should be in the driver’s seat for the district crown.

Claremore jumped into the top ten in Class 5A after knocking off Bartlesville in week one. In week two, they found themselves in a shootout with Oologah but the Zebras had too much firepower on offense to be contained. Wide receiver

finished the game with 260 yards receiving and four touchdowns on just seven catches. The Claremore passing attack was on fire on Friday and despite Oologah putting up a lot of points, they weren’t going to be able to keep up with Deckard and the Zebras. We knew Claremore was going to be a dark horse to watch in 5A this season but they are off to a hot start.

at the wide receiver position. Deckard put up some big numbers last season with nearly 50 catches for over 700 yards and six touchdowns. Deckard is a really good looking athlete at 6’1 and when you combine that production with some of the track times that he’s put up this spring and you have a very underrated playmaker in Class 5A. But that’s been the overwhelming theme of this preview. We really like the talent that the Zebras bring back this season and we think that Deckard should be able to put up some really good numbers and with that, Claremore should win quite a few games this season as they look to contend in Class 5A.
