Every Friday throughout the regular season on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we’re going to add three names to the Player Of The Year Watchlist. Be sure to check back every Friday to see who gets added to the Player Of The Year Watchlist and what the current watchlist players have done this season. This year’s winner will be the fourth winner in our website’s short history. The previous three winners were all juniors, including last year, but we have not had a repeat winner yet. The road to Edmond continues this week and so does the race for the 2023 PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year award!
Earlier this week, we updated our 2024 prospect rankings and one of the top newcomers to the rankings was Claremore wide receiver Gage Deckard Gage Deckard 6’1″ | 175 lbs | WR Claremore | 2024 State OK and he’s been one of the top overall players this season. Deckard has put up some monster numbers at the wide receiver position. So far this season, he has over 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns and is near the top of the state when it comes to touchdown receptions this season. In our article breaking down some of the top newcomers, we mentioned how Deckard was a player that we were told about earlier this year at our first ever 7v7 tournament. We were told that weekend that he was a player and he has certainly showed that so far this season. Two weeks ago, we got a chance to see Deckard and the Zebras in person and Deckard immediately passed the eye test. Not only was he making plays on the offensive side of the ball but he also came down with an interception on defense. Claremore is in the middle of their best season in recent memory. Deckard is a big reason behind that and has become one of the top overall playmakers in Class 5A.

Speaking of some of the top newcomers in our 2024 prospect rankings and specifically at the wide receiver position, Collinsville senior wideout Hudson Henslick Hudson Henslick 5’9″ | 155 lbs | WR Collinsville | 2024 State OK was also one of the top newcomers and just like Deckard, he is having a spectacular senior season and has been the top playmaker on a top ten team in a loaded Class 5A. Henslick came into this season as one of the top wide receivers in Class 5A. He enjoyed a breakout season last year. He emerged as one of the top playmakers on Collinsville’s offense and that has more than carried over this season. In addition to being Collinsville’s leading receiver by a wide margin, Henslick is adding other elements to his game that makes him incredibly valuable to what Collinsville does. He’s been a threat in the return game and has also impacted the game on defense. There’s no doubt that Henslick has been one of the top wide receivers and overall playmakers in the state this fall. And while this just happens to be a coincidence, it’s a good one because on Friday night, we’ll see Henslick and Deckard go head to head as the Cardinals face Claremore in the regular season finale.
We’re one week away from the playoffs starting and Wagoner beginning their pursuit for another state championship. Junior quarterback Kale Charboneau Kale Charboneau 6’0″ | 210 lbs | ATH Wagoner | 2025 State OK helped lead the Bulldogs to the state title a year ago and was an absolute star in the state title game against Cushing. This season, the Bulldogs expected to go from a run-first team to airing it out the majority of the time. With Charboneau returning at quarterback, he gave the Bulldogs the ability to really light up the scoreboard. At quarterback, Charboneau has thrown for nearly 2,000 yards on the season and he has been a touchdown machine. He’s thrown for 13 touchdowns and also added 12 touchdowns on the ground. Like many of Wagoner’s best players over the last decade, Charboneau has been a standout on the defensive side of the ball. Charboneau is one of the team’s leading tacklers and he’s come down with a few interceptions. He returned one interception for a score. Charboneau is certainly going to be one of the players to watch when the playoffs begin. He joins teammate Alex Shieldnight Alex Shieldnight 6’3″ | 230 lbs | DL Wagoner | 2025 State OK as Wagoner players on the watchlist.
