out of Washington. Cantrell helped lead the Warriors to back to back state championships and would finish his career with a 44-1 record as QB1. Cantrell emerged as one of the state’s best players in 2023 as he led Washington to a second straight state title and perfect season. In December, Cantrell committed to Iowa State after a visit and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him climb the depth chart. There is no doubt that he is a winner and we’re fired up to see what’s next for him.

is one of the more successful starting quarterbacks in Oklahoma this season. When you look at his career, it’s hard to argue that he’s one of the winningest quarterbacks that we saw this season. Cantrell helped guide the Warriors to a second consecutive state championship and the Warriors capped off a perfect 15-0 season for the second straight year. Cantrell finished this season with over 2,700 yards passing and 34 touchdowns. He also added nearly 500 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. It’s not necessarily just the stats that earned Cantrell a spot on this breakdown. He finished his career with a 44-1 record as QB1 of the Warriors. He made it to the state title game every year as the starter and was a critical part of a senior class that is leaving a lasting legacy at Washington. Earlier this month, Cantrell made another visit to Iowa State and would announce his commitment to the Cyclones shortly after that trip.Access all of Prep Redzone

has been as close to perfect as you can be from the quarterback position. This season, Cantrell has thrown for just over 2,500 yards and 32 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He also has added over 500 yards rushing and has been wildly efficient this year. He’s completing nearly 70 percent of his passes and like we mentioned with Howard, there are a lot of instances this season when Cantrell’s night is over by halftime. Cantrell has taken his game to new heights this season and he’s emerged as a very interesting quarterback prospect to watch with the first signing day approaching this month.

2A’s top-ranked and defending champion Washington has been on a roll this season as they look to defend that Class 2A title. They played a tough non-district schedule and it didn’t slow them down. They faced three straight ranked opponents and the closest game was a 25-point win over 3A’s #5 Sulphur. Just like last year, the Warriors are once again a complete team so we could pick a few different players from the Warriors to add to this watchlist. But we’re going with senior quarterback

because he’s been flawless so far this season. He’s thrown for nearly 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns with no interceptions. Cantrell hasn’t had to play much in the second half and he’s probably not going to play much after halftime for the next month but when he’s on the field, things have gone well. The Warriors are the favorites in Class 2A and Cantrell has taken his game up a notch.

Defending 2A champion Washington has looked prime for another state championship run. The top-ranked Warriors played a tough non-district schedule against three ranked opponents and the closest game was a 25-point win over Sulphur. The Warriors are in a similar boat to Wagoner where they are defending champions that are favored to repeat. And they also have several players that could fit the MVP category but we’re going with senior

at the quarterback position. Similar to a few other quarterbacks on this breakdown, Cantrell has been as close to perfect as you can get. He’s thrown for nearly 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns with no interceptions. And there are a few reasons why Cantrell’s numbers aren’t up there with some of the other quarterbacks and it shouldn’t matter. This is a Washington offense that has been incredibly balanced so far this season and the majority of their games have been decided by halftime. Nevertheless, Cantrell has been about as close to perfect as you can get and is one of the top QBs in the state.

and the start he has had this season. In the first two games, Cantrell has thrown six touchdown passes and has just four incompletions. Read that stat one more time. And the Warriors were playing ranked teams in both games. He’s 21-25 for nearly 400 yards and six touchdowns. Last week, he also added 76 yards and a touchdown on the ground as the Warriors took care of business against Sulphur. We were in person for last week’s Jones-Lincoln Christian game and the Bulldogs absolutely torched the Longhorn defense. With the way Cantrell has played so far this season and the balance they’ve shown offensively, it’s hard to think that they are going to slow down anytime soon.

returns once again under center for the Warriors as we head into the 2023 football season. Cantrell enjoyed a breakout season as just a sophomore in 2021. He threw for over 2,500 yards and 34 touchdowns. He would follow that up last season with nearly 1,800 passing yards and 20 touchdowns on the season. Last season, he had a somewhat inexperienced receiving group. This year, he brings almost all of those weapons back so the production should go back to what we saw during his sophomore season. Cantrell has also benefited from being surrounded by talent. He’s taken advantage of all the different college staffs coming through Washington and has seen his recruitment start to take off.

would do this season as he lost some of his best playmakers at the wide receiver position. While the Warriors definitely have experience back in the run game, Cantrell needed to find some new targets in the pass game. He was able to do that and has been incredibly efficient with the ball this season. He’s thrown for nearly 1,700 yards and 19 touchdowns with only 5 interceptions. He’s taking care of the ball and he’s picking his spots to be aggressive. Next year could be a big season for Cantrell with Scott graduating and Cantrell will be a three-year starter at that point. But first, he wants to finish the job with a gold ball.
