is the headliner for the 2028 running backs and it feels like it’s been that way since he was in middle school. Dickerson is a name that we’ve known about for a while and he finally had that breakout moment during his sophomore season. He was splitting carries with a senior last fall, but he made the most of his opportunities. He also saw his recruitment start to take off and with him becoming the marquee back in this offense, it should only continue moving forward. Dickerson is a unique blend of quickness, strength and breakaway speed. He’s a shorter running back but he is not small. He’s one of the strongest running backs in the 2028 class and that’s evident when he bounces off defenders.

kicks off this feature as he moved up to #12 overall and has taken over the top spot at the running back position. Dickerson is a 2028 prospect that we were sold on when he was still in middle school. So far at the high school level, Dickerson has continued to improve and has been productive when his number has been called. Last season, he was behind a three-year starter at the running back position. This season, he’s part of a legitimate two-headed monster at running back, splitting carries with a senior that moved in from out of state. It won’t be surprising if Dickerson’s production absolutely explodes next year and continues into his senior season. He’s an explosive playmaker that is continuing to get better and better. Tulsa has seen enough and recently pulled the trigger on offering him and it was Dickerson’s first D1 offer. That list should continue to grow moving forward.

Earlier in the preview, we talked about how Washington has gotten to the point where they just reload, year after year. He’s the perfect example. For almost every other team in Class 2A-1 last season, running back

would have started as a freshman. But he waited for his turn behind a three-year starter and now, Dickerson gets a chance to start for three years himself. We’ve watched the young Washington standout quite a bit over the last 18 months and he is without a doubt one of the best running backs in his class. Washington fans got flashes of it last season. But now, with Dickerson moving into the starter role, he’s primed for a monster 2025 season.

is another undersized running back that is virtually impossible to touch in the open field. But one thing that separates Dickerson from some of the other guys on this breakdown is his strength. He’s a legitimate weight room warrior and even if you hit Dickerson, he has the lower body strength and balance to just bounce off the contact. Dickerson has been waiting for his opportunity to be the guy in the Washington backfield and that time appears to be here. Every time we’ve seen him in person, with or without the pads on, he has consistently been one of the best players on the field. If you’re looking for a player that becomes a breakout star in Oklahoma this season, you might not need to look further than Dickerson.

has gotten into the game for the Warriors this season but it’s almost exclusively when the game is wrapped up. The Warriors have a senior starting at running back and a few other seniors that share the backfield so the carries have been somewhat limited for this freshman. But Dickerson is a 2028 prospect that we think will absolutely blow up when he gets his number called. He’s similar to Jones in size but he’s built like an absolute cannon ball and can fly when he gets into the open field. There is a lot to like here with Dickerson and when he gets his opportunity, he’s going to run with it, literally.

has already been featured prominently this offseason after performing well in 7v7 tournaments as well as our PRZ-Next camp back in January. Dickerson is going to be a star. You already see the signs pointing in that direction and his playmaking ability was on full display this weekend. Dickerson and his Durant-based C4 squad made a run to the 15U championship game. The future Washington Warrior has a lot of the tools to make him a playmaker immediately when he enters high school. He’s fast, agile and incredibly strong already. And an underrated quality is the fact that Dickerson always has a smile on his face.

2.) Josiah Dickerson – Oklahoma
RB Type: All-Purpose
Grades ()
Vision (7.5) Recognizes space easily and can see the backdoor if first man misses. However, I think he’s still so raw at realizing when to just run by defenders instead of making a move inside the hashes.
Speed (9) PR’d 4.59 40yd kid can straight up fly and is explosive when he decides to change gears.
Power (8.5) 250 bench, 48in Box Jump. Josiah leaves defenders scratching their heads because of the assumption that size equals the toughness of the tackle. He is not easy to bring down and feels more like your hitting a 200+ back.
Balance (8) Love the way he can go base at a moments notice after being contacted, then run right out of it like someone hit the pause button by mistake.
Ball Security (8.5) Chins the ball in traffic and can catch well.
BPA-Big Play Ability (8) The raw talent puts him at an advantage, but I feel he reacts more than reads to anticipate at the first level.
This kid has the potential of a Brian Westbrook, Darren Sproles, Maurice Jones-Drew, and most recent Deuce Vaughn. He is so raw right now, but has ALL the tangibles to be electrifying under the lights.
Writer Michael Knight was impressed by hometown talent immediately once Dickerson got to moving around during testing and 1 vs 1’s at Texas location. Plays three sports.

in attendance on Sunday. He camped at two PRZ-Next camps last year and has taken his game to new heights this time around. He set a PR for the 40-yard dash with a 4.59 and impressed every coach and writer in attendance. Dickerson looks the part physically and continues to really impress. Washington has been one of the top small school programs in Oklahoma and they’re getting a serious baller with Dickerson entering high school this fall. Dickerson already looks like he’s ready for the varsity level and will look like he belongs.

was right there in the mix to make it three MVPs for future Washington Warriors. Dickerson got on our radar earlier this year when he stood out at the Prep Redzone Next camp down in Texas. And he came to Broken Arrow this weekend and picked up right where he left off. He already has good speed, moves well and you can tell that he has the potential to be a very powerful back in the future as he adds a few inches. Most of the standouts this weekend were 2027 prospects that are getting ready to enter high school this fall. Dickerson was the rare 2028 standout that still has another year of junior high ball before moving on to the high school level. Needless to say, defending Class 2A champion Washington is just going to continue to reload as we start looking ahead to the next few years. Dickerson tested really well and did a good job during the drills and competitions. He left a few linebackers in the dust while making a catch out of the backfield.

As noted in the Honorable Mention All-Camp Team article, Dickerson has the makings of a future super star in this 2028 class. The numbers speak for themselves with a 4.66 in the forty, a 4.71 in the shuttle and a 7.81 in the L-Drill. The Oklahoma native spends obvious time training on-and-off the field and it’s paying off. Between Dickerson and his teammate, fellow 2028 standout
